Historia
Having entertained the idea for years, and even offered a few questionable opportunities ("It's a piece of cake! Just do four hours of interviews, find someone else to write it, put your face on the cover, and voila!") I have decided to tell these stories just as I have always done, in my own voice.

Surprisingly Great
Revisado: 02-03-24
While I knew Nirvana pretty well, I probably couldn’t name a Foo Fighters tune. Grohl is a familiar name, but I had no idea what to expect from him here. Loved it. Positive vibes all the way through. His humility and gratitude come though with genuine depth. Stories were often mind blowing but also poignant and heartwarming. Grohl’s love for family and friends, paired with his adoration of musical hero’s is endearing and uplifting. And he cracks a few jokes along the way. I’d love to hang with this guy. Guess who is buying his first Foo Fighter album?

There’s nothing left for him but to quit the game, get out. Then, in one frantic moment on a crowded railroad platform in Rome, Havelock sees Jenna. Racing around the globe in search of his beautiful betrayer, Havelock is now marked for death by both U.S. and Russian assassins, trapped in a massive mosaic of treachery created by a top-level mole with the world in his fist: Parsifal.

Fun but long, well performed
Revisado: 05-10-23
Mr. Brick does his normal great job covering various genders and ethnicities. This is a complex story and he had his hands (mouth?) full with the character list. I love Ludlum as a rule but this when went on a bit longer than expected. That is my only complaint. Tied up nicely, made sense, delivered some surprises. Overall win.

Historia
Titan is the first full-length biography based on unrestricted access to Rockefeller’s exceptionally rich trove of papers. A landmark publication full of startling revelations, the book indelibly alters our image of this most enigmatic capitalist. Born the son of a flamboyant, bigamous snake-oil salesman and a pious, straitlaced mother, Rockefeller rose from rustic origins to become the world’s richest man by creating America’s most powerful and feared monopoly, Standard Oil. Branded "the Octopus" by legions of muckrakers, the trust refined and marketed nearly 90 percent of the oil produced in America.

Eye opening
Revisado: 05-11-21
Mr. Chernow does a fantastic job of painting JD Rockefeller in a pretty balanced light. Kind of weird, but mostly a genius, Rockefeller was driven to success - at almost any cost. You will come away conflicted. Hero? Miser? Criminal? Yes.
Performance is pitch perfect. I listened on speed 1.4 and the uptick in pitch was barely noticeable. Not my first Chernow, I love the author’s depth of research and ability to help one envision the place and time in which the subject is at work. Draws you in with facts, but the narrative is suspenseful and revealing, never dry.
