A novel written by Ellie’s first love, Jack Bennett, tells the story of a young man and woman who meet at the water’s edge and fall madly in love, only to have their romance cut short by forces beyond their control. Ellie quickly realizes this is no ordinary story; it’s their story. Captivated by Jack’s words, she immerses herself in the pages, reliving the adventures they shared that magical summer. To her astonishment, hidden among the tales of star-gazing and stolen kisses is a detail that has her questioning everything.

One of the best love stories I have read. Deep lasting devotion. Patience and endurance. Communication. Good example of waiting for your true love - not settling for others. Good, clean, faithfilled writing made especially enjoyable. In my opinion - a must read.

Historia
"You will be called Anippe, daughter of the Nile. Do you like it?" Without waiting for a reply, she pulls me into her squishy, round tummy for a hug. I’m trying not to cry. Pharaoh's daughters don't cry. When we make our way down the tiled hall, I try to stop at ummi Kiya's chamber. I know her spirit has flown, yet I long for one more moment. Amenia pushes me past so I keep walking and don't look back. Like the waters of the Nile, I will flow.

Difficult to listen to
Revisado: 09-27-24
I had to stop half way through. The book itself might be better read than audible. I couldn’t distinguish the foreign names. I think seeing the names would make it easier to keep track of characters. While the narrator was excellent- using accents for the characters - especially while saying names caused confusion and made parts of the narration difficult to understand. I think the book is interesting, and I much prefer audible, but I’ll have to read this one

Inspiring story woven together in the trilogy
Revisado: 09-13-24
This truly was an invitation to step into history through the well developed characters of this book. Having lived in Atlanta most of my life, and now in Northern Virginia - just outside of D.C., history that surrounded my life - came to life. I am most grateful for the message of the Gospel told throughout the story. Lives were transformed ; so very inspirational. This was my second time reading this trilogy. I have read many of Lynn Austin’s books. Everyone is a treasured experience.

Historia
The year was 1917. As a war raged across the world, young American women flocked to work, painting watches, clocks, and military dials with a special luminous substance made from radium. It was a fun job, lucrative and glamorous - the girls themselves shone brightly in the dark, covered head to toe in the dust from the paint. They were the radium girls. As the years passed, the women began to suffer from mysterious and crippling illnesses.

Outstanding!
Revisado: 09-07-24
Engaging, in depth story of history I was aware of, but knew so little about. Couldn’t stop listening. Every life story of these women, while holding a common thread, was unique. Each very young woman displayed such courage, determination to live, to fight, and to hold on to faith. Pure inspiration. The loyalty the women had to each other, as well as their family members through the tragedy was admirable. The legal and medical team that fought for and with them are to be held in esteem. The people responsible for this horrific tragedy must have had no conscious nor human heart to have been able to ignore the
human sufferings before them. In fact, even continued to employ some with the assurance it was a safe job! All caused by their blatant deceitfulness and obvious greed for continuous prosperity. I am heartily thankful to these women (and Frances Perkins!) for turning tragedy into a better life for all humanity!

Predictable, but pleasant story line. Good traditional family dynamics and support presented within the story. Well written by author and well presented by narrator. Just found it very predictable.

Historia
In 1909, Clementine steps off a train with her new husband, Winston. An angry woman emerges from the crowd to attack, shoving him in the direction of an oncoming train. Just before he stumbles, Clementine grabs him by his suit jacket. This will not be the last time Clementine Churchill will save her husband. Lady Clementine is the ferocious story of the ambitious woman beside Winston Churchill, the story of a partner who did not flinch through the sweeping darkness of war, and who would not surrender either to expectations or to enemies.

Good…but gotta question….
Revisado: 03-05-24
History was good, but for my age bracket (70), not much information was unknown to me about the Churchills - except very good details about Clementine’s Russian support to the Russian people. I have ALWAYS been of the very strong belief behind every great man is a great woman. This author’s historical fiction books have been exceptional at bringing that to light! I have been fascinated and inspired by her writings about unnoticed accomplishments of women. Personally, I did not care for the verbiage used at the end of Chapter 45 - Clementine practically taking credit for all he was and did (my interpretation-my opinion). I am a huge fan of the man. And I’m sure she was a great support and help. But who/what would he had been/done without her? Wow. But, after all, my husband would have been nothing without me🤷♀️. Ask anybody😀
