Historia
Willow Havens is 10 years old and obsessed with the fear that her mother will die. Her mother, Polly, is a cantankerous, take-no-prisoners Southern woman who lives to chase varmints, drink margaritas, and antagonize the neighbors - and she sticks out like a sore thumb among the young, modern mothers of their small conventional Texas town. She was in her late 50s when Willow was born, so Willow knows she's here by accident, a late-life afterthought.

For Vish Puri, India’s most private detective, the news that he has won the long-coveted International Detective of the Year award, to be presented in a glitzy ceremony in London, makes this the best day of his life. But to his deep dismay, a senior bureaucrat from the Ministry of Finance gives him a secret mission he can’t refuse: to track down India’s most-wanted fugitive. Dr. Bhatt’s medicines caused the deaths of hundreds, and the billionaire fraudster—code named the Bombay Duck—fled for the United Kingdom before he could be arrested.

I have listened to all the Tarquin Hall books and love them. This was a different reader and he was good but Rumpi just wasn’t herself! Entertaining and endearing!

Delightful Story with profound insight
Revisado: 02-11-25
The reader was exceptional. She switched back-and-forth from a little girl’s voice to a black woman’s to a man’s, and it was seamless. The story is beautiful, delightful, and also deals with disturbing elements of our history. The author didn’t preach. She taught through her characters and their emotions and feelings and experiences. The book will stay with me a long time.

Historia
It began in a women's club in London on a February afternoon. A discreet advertisement in The Times, addressed to "Those who Appreciate Wistaria and Sunshine..." lures four very different women away from the dismal British weather to San Salvatore, a castle high above a bay on the sunny Italian Riviera. There, the Mediterranean spirit stirs the souls of Mrs Arbuthnot, Mrs Wilkins, Lady Caroline Dester, and Mrs Fisher, and remarkable changes occur.

A BEAUTIFUL MEANDER
Revisado: 09-02-24
I listen to this for a change of pace from more intense books, and it was delightful. It meander through peoples lives and while bad things were not avoided. Just finishing it now I feel like I have left some old friends who I’ve known all their lives. I loved the character development where people were flawed or quirky, and yet all presented with kindness and hope

I have never listen to anything else by this author. His writing is effortless and old-fashioned yet easy to connect to. It certainly wasn’t an action book but a journey of the heart. I really love this book

Revisado: 11-22-21
This is a short story that is so well written and delightful. D innocence and naivety of the main character is enduring. If you want to have a few hours I was just entertaining light listening but with great wordsmithing listen to this story.

Held my Heart
Revisado: 10-09-21
It’s hard to believe that a book about nothing major, just a story of an inconsequential man weaving through the years of his life could be so beautiful. Not preachy but a very tender and unique path to a deep faith. A view of “progress”of a nation and a small rural town through the eyes of a kind and insightful man.Every time I see a barber in his barber shop I will think of Jayber crow and smile.

This book is moving beyond words
Revisado: 11-20-19
I could not stop listening to this book. I just finished it and am wiping away my tears. I shied away from Christian authors because their characters were one dimensional and existed on paper to share the gospel in simplistic circumstances. Not this! The story itself unfolded the truth and in the end the first gospel was simply the natural ending to the story. beautifully written and read.

Historia
>When South African conservationist Lawrence Anthony was asked to accept a herd of "rogue" wild elephants on his Thula Thula game reserve in Zululand, his common sense told him to refuse. But he was the herd's last chance of survival: they would be killed if he wouldn't take them. In order to save their lives, Anthony took them in. In the years that followed he became a part of their family. And as he battled to create a bond with the elephants, he came to realize that they had a great deal to teach him about life, loyalty, and freedom.

Exceptional!
Revisado: 11-22-18
From the opening line of this book I could not stop listening. If I hopped in my car for even a few minutes it would be on. Wake up in the middle of the night, listen to the story. And yet it was about elephants and a game reserve in Africa, Something I would not have thought to be compelling or exciting. Part of the appeal of this book is the reader. He is effortless in telling this story. The author has a beautiful way of weaving words to paint Images in your mind of the African bush in the animals that live there. His approach to animals is both practical and Noble. I love elephants because of this book!
