Historia
Humanity’s war with the Coven is going badly. Fleet simply doesn’t have the ships or the manpower to counter the alien’s vast reserves, so Cole Jackson is hauled out of his self-imposed exile and ordered back to the front. The Admirals are gambling on a miracle; that he and his crew can repeat the success of his First Command by repairing vessels and sending them into battle. And maybe snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Utterly boring
Revisado: 04-18-25
Terrible story and writing, the mindless adolescent conversations go on for tens of minutes. I’m at a loss as to how stuff like this can even get published. I’m most of the way through but I fast forwarded a lot. This one goes on the trash heap.

Historia
Fresh out of the Academy, Ensign Cole Jackson’s first posting to Freedom couldn’t have come at a worse time. All over the Alliance, planets and colonies are suddenly under attack by the vicious Coven Empire. Freedom and her sister ship, Hood, are ambushed by alien warships, leaving Hood drifting dead in the void. Cole is ordered to salvage parts from the powerless Hood, but when he arrives on the unpowered hulk, Freedom is called away, marooning him and a group of malcontent techs in deep space.

Good story, some of the chatter was a little silly, the poker games, I fast forwarded through that… It’s not realistic sci fi but not terrible.

Historia
Noah Gantz is tricked out, powered up, and a hell of a lot funnier now that he’s survived his first showdown with his archrival, rogue test pilot Colonel Tate Collins. None of that will be enough to save his new friends when things go from bad to worse. Because in the Gavant Reach, things definitely will. When Wozim, the Tyton battle lord who already saved his life more than once, is crucially injured, Noah and the rest of the crew must find a lost planet, brave the terrors of the local wilderness, and find a cure for their friend's worsening wounds.

I can’t take any more
Revisado: 04-02-25
This is the worst series I’ve had the misfortune of listening to. The main character is a shallow Coward that stupidly reminisces in the middle of a shootout. I thought the first book was bad… I’m done with this ridiculousness. Can I give a zero for this story????

Historia
The ConFed has ruled the galactic quadrant for nearly two thousand years. During that time a relative peace has been kept by threat of force from their mighty fleet. But as with all things, their dominance must come to an end. Now that the ConFed is crumbling and their fleet is withdrawing back to the Core Worlds, the strong are once again preying on the weak. In the border regions, trafficking rings have popped up alongside the refugee pipelines making the journey for new colonists a treacherous one.

Incredibly lame story
Revisado: 03-28-25
The story, the performance are pretty bad, I started fast forwarding after about the 100th time the main character reminisced about “Pops”. Chaney and Moon have done other stories together that were much better. I’m going to give this series one more chance with book 2. If it’s as bad as this one, I won’t waste any more money. Not much about this story is goo dat all.

Historia
Van and his crew suspect there's more to the Equal Grasp than just a band of thieves, and they begin their campaign at Bopul Station, a lonely outpost where corruption rules and Peacemakers are feared. To continue the fight and the case, the crew and friends need more than just contacts. They need money. To that end, Van begins exploring an old mystery about his grandfather, which leads to the shocking discovery—the Earth is being stripped of its history, one object at a time, but that's not the main purpose of the criminals.

Historia
Over the course of five combat patrols during the Pacific War, Commander Fluckey reinvented submarine warfare, pioneering audacious strategies to hunt and sink Japanese warships and merchant vessels. At the helm of the USS Barb, he directed his boat to attack warship convoys - never mind the lop-sided odds - and to slip into heavily defended enemy harbors to launch torpedoes at unsuspecting targets.

Great Story, confusing presentation
Revisado: 03-03-25
The story of Admiral Fluckeys career in WW 2 is great, but the author kept jumping around chronologically and several times provided the same information given two chapters earlier. It would be nice to have a chronological sequence of events, I plan to get “thunder down below” and hope that will give me a better sense of Barbs patrols than this one did.

Historia
Stepping up as an NCO, however, is something different. It isn’t enough to be an effective warrior. He has to be able to lead his fellow Marines, all without doubting his own abilities. Failing will not only lead to his own death, but to those under his command. The responsibility is heavy, and the cost of losing is high. At the same time, an old ally becomes a new enemy, thrusting Ryck into a life and death situation where success or failure rides on his shoulders.

Story moves very slowly
Revisado: 01-31-25
Performance is good, despite a slow story. Main character internalized thoughts go on tangent after tangent in the heat of a battle or an action sequence. I fast forwarded several times throughout the book
