Overall I enjoy the story. This was a fun read. I enjoyed the banter and learning about the dynamics of relationships between all characters. The length of the book was good, and I enjoy the author's writing style. I do feel like, depth and chemistry was lacking between the two leads. The chemistry doesn't always feel like it's not there, it wasn't until I got towards the end of the book where I was having a hard time figuring out, what these two women had in common besides their physical attraction. however overall I enjoyed the story and I'm happy that I read it. Also, the epilogue was not my favorite.

I loved the concept of this book, which is what made me read it. However, I wish it was better. The characters were so well thought out and written well. I was all in until friendship with benefits came into play. It stained the book for me and I truly wanted to love it. Also the epilogue only goes 3 months into the future. Even though a super meaningful and emotional conversation is had, since the epilogue is two parts, we could have had a 3 month and 3 year epilogue.

Heavy on Self - Loathing Not Heavy Enough on Romance

here's the thing, I was real excited about this book. I unfortunately would not recommend this book. This is my first October read and I was itching to get my fingers on my phone and start this book. as very similar to other people who have reviewed it, it was very heavy on main character self-loathing and not heavy enough on the romance. I understand that due to this being not a real story, that we should not expect a completely realistic story. however, we are talking about full-grown adults and the female lead was giving preteen / teenage vibes. I did not want to read about teenagers, I wanted to read about adults, and it doesn't feel like I got that. honestly I would have appreciated the book more, if we would have witnessed self-growth from the female lead, instead of the majority of the book being her freaking out because of the potion. Even though the book was well written and it felt like we were dealing with real characters, for me, the book was less enjoyable because of how unrealistic the female leads theory about the potion and her way of going about handling the situation was handled.

I wanna start this off by saying I've never rated a book this low and I have read some awful smut in my time 😂 I wanted to love this book grumpy lumberjacks are my thing, however there was a lack of character development for Henri (male lead) which I found crazy since Alice (female lead) was in her self betterment and self discovery era. I feel like the author did a great job on Alice and helping us understand her life struggles with loving herself and the awful family she grew up in. Almost anyone can see themselves in Alice and root for her the entire book. HOWEVER the same courtesy was not given to Henri and I felt like this was an injustice. the best part of the book was the representation for children in foster care and how important the school's influence is, to these children's lives.

second book in this stand alone series, which is less of a stand alone in my opinion so far and more of a read all of them in order lol. I absolutely loved this book. I really enjoy the author's writing style, now that I've completed book 2. there isn't a bunch of unnecessary details that bogs down your brain and makes it difficult to follow a story. I feel like the characters are relatable and the characters are also distinctly different. we're learning more and more about this family and the different dynamics that each sibling has, dynamics of the parents and their marriage and the struggles that all of them are going through. Even though it is essentially an all-white cast, I still felt like the characters are very diverse. There are different diagnoses going on within the family structure, there are different handicaps that are going on within the family structure and within the significant others of the siblings of bringing in. All the characters feel touchable, and real. which I really am enjoying right now. Love love love love love love and moving on to the next one. 🏃🏾‍♀️

I reluctantly started this book. I want to start by saying that. I reluctantly started this book because I was extremely excited about book number seven and I don't like reading things out of order. I know what you're thinking, you don't have to read this specific series in order. I know. however I really want to get to last book so I reluctantly started this one because it didn't sound as good as the last one. I figured, I'd power through it and make my way through the series. Oh boy how wrong was I? So wrong! So very, very, very wrong. I loooooooooved this book. I could barely put it down! the story is told so beautifully and I feel in love with Ryder and his story. He stole the show for me! I enjoy smut and this was the perfect amount combined with sensational storytelling.

I have been reading a lot of books in this genre lately, and this book did not disappoint whatsoever, I enjoyed it from start to finish. The characters are well thought out, the banter is funny and the relationships feel relatable. The smut is well written and it's not cringy at all. I enjoy a cringeless audiobook especially since this genre could be cringy lol

It's not a romantic comedy

My issue isn't with the writing, the story is beautifully written, it is hilarious it handles very big topics with care and with a delicacy that is not easily accomplished. The depth of the story is really good, the characters are well thought out and placed ever so perfectly into their roles and the bits of them being in the story. My issue is that this is not really a romantic comedy. there is so little romance and I hate that. The main character goes through so much and we spend a lot of time outside of the romantic bubble and then we get to the romance it's so little. Even leading up to the two of them becoming a couple. there's just so little and there was so much of everything else. It's not horrible and it definitely was not the worst book I've ever read, I just really wished that there was more romance and that we got to fall in love with their love and fall in love with them instead of it feeling like a after thought. I was hopeful that the epilogue would give us a glimpse into this romance that is barely there and barely present, and it did not.
