Good and Creepy
Revisado: 03-19-25
An intelligent woman who is a paranormal investigator is trying to move on after her sister`s suicide, but there is something that keeps pulling her back to her pain. Now, her mother is in danger and there may have been more at play in sister`s death. The writing is great and the performance was too. It`s a story that gets you from the beginning and doesn`t let you go.

Historia
Jasmyn and King Williams move their family to the planned Black utopia of Liberty, California hoping to find a community of like-minded people, a place where their growing family can thrive. King settles in at once, embracing the Liberty ethos, including the luxe wellness center at the top of the hill, which proves to be the heart of the community. But Jasmyn struggles to find her place. She expected to find liberals and social justice activists striving for racial equality, but Liberty residents seem more focused on booking spa treatments and ignoring the world’s troubles.

I love the Stepford Wives!
Revisado: 06-13-24
This was an interesting novel, but this is a twist on the Stepford Wives. I apologize if that`s spoilers for anyone, but this is almost fan fiction. It even has all the same major plot points. I won`t give away the ending. I didn`t see that coming. The book is well written and very well performed.

Historia
Nobody has a “normal” family, but Vesper Wright’s is truly...something else. Vesper left home at eighteen and never looked back—mostly because she was told that leaving the staunchly religious community she grew up in meant she couldn’t return. But then an envelope arrives on her doorstep.

Love Rachel Harrison
Revisado: 09-21-23
I always preorder anything Rachel Harrison writes because I know it`s going to be good. This was no exception. Imagine leaving home because your family is the kind of strange you can`t talk about. Then, you have to go home and you realize that you didn`t know exactly how strange they really were.

Historia
After striking out on her own as a teen mom, Madi Price is forced to return to her hometown of Brandywine, Virginia, with her seventeen-year-old daughter. With nothing to her name, she scrapes together a living as a palm reader at the local farmers market. It’s there that she connects with old high school flame Henry McCabe, now a reclusive local fisherman whose infant son, Skyler, went missing five years ago. Everyone in town is sure Skyler is dead, but when Madi reads Henry’s palm, she’s haunted by strange and disturbing visions that suggest otherwise.

Good Kind of Weird
Revisado: 09-12-23
I am always a fan of Clay`s work and his style. This novel is about a woman who reads palms and is trying to get her life sorted out so that she can get her daughter back. She runs into an old friend who lost his son years before and he believes in her gift. He wants her to help him get his son back. This novel has interesting characters, some great body horror elements, and a really weird and interesting plot. Great narration as well. It`s hard to stop listening.

Historia
After his estranged father’s mysterious death, Charlie Remick returns to Seattle to help with the funeral. There, he discovers his father left him two parting gifts: the keys to the family record store and a strange black case containing four ancient records that, according to legend, can open a gate to the land of the dead. When Charlie, his sister, and their two friends play the records, they unwittingly open a floodgate of unspeakable horror. As the darkness descends, they are stalked by a relentless, malevolent force and see the dead everywhere they turn.

Interesting
Revisado: 09-12-23
I love a good original horror story. Charlie works in the music industry and gets a call that his father has killed himself. When he goes home for the funeral, he discovers that he`s been given the last thing he wants from his estranged father, his music store and some "cursed" records that must be some kind of joke. This is where things get interesting. This is a story about family and love and what we do to for those we love. The writing is great and the story is interesting. I loved the characters.

Interesting
Revisado: 06-26-23
This was an interesting novel that takes us back a few years into lockdown territory. Everyone is on edge due to seclusion and and our main character is a little paranoid because she is staying with an old friend, but how well does she really know her? And she had never met her husband. Now, she is in a relationship with them and getting over her ex, but what are they hiding and what really happened to their ex? Why do their neighbors hate them so much? It is a really interesting read.

Historia
Now reduced to a schoolyard chant, the Hope family murders shocked the Maine coast one bloody night in 1929. While most people assume seventeen-year-old Lenora was responsible, the police were never able to prove it. Other than her denial after the killings, she has never spoken publicly about that night, nor has she set foot outside Hope’s End, the cliffside mansion where the massacre occurred.

Revisado: 06-22-23
Riley Sager is always a fun listen. This was a great novel with great surprises. The characters are interesting and the story is layered in a way that doesn`t feel clunky and confusing. If you like a good whodunit, this is it. When you think you know what`s going on, you don`t.

Historia
In the wake of her parents’ death, Aretha, a habitually single Black lawyer, has had only one obsession in life—success—until she falls for Aaron, a coffee entrepreneur. Moving into his Brooklyn brownstone to live along with his Hurricane Sandy-traumatized, illegal-gun-stockpiling, optimized-soy-protein-eating, bunker-building roommates, Aretha finds that her dreams of making partner are slipping away, replaced by an underground world, one of selling guns and training for a doomsday that’s maybe just around the corner.

Interesting
Revisado: 02-01-23
Survivalism can become cult-like for some people. I have known some people like this. It can be easy to fall into because, hey, who doesn`t want to be prepared when something bad can happen? What`s wrong with being prepared? When Aretha, a young, single lawyer meets a nice guy whose roommates are survivalists she thinks she can roll with it, because he`s not like that. As she gets sucked in, her life begins to change, her relationships begin to change, and she needs to figure out who she really is and how much she can take.

Awesome
Revisado: 01-18-23
While I love horror, haunted house stories and possessed dolls are never my favorites. This novel, however, was REALLY fun. When Grady Hendrix wants to, he can really entertain and write a story that holds your attention from beginning to end. The characters are engaging and interesting and the story is great. There`s plenty of sadness, horror, mystery and heart for everyone. Also, the narration was great.

Historia
Liz Rocher is coming home . . . reluctantly. As a Black woman, Liz doesn’t exactly have fond memories of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, a predominantly white town. But her best friend is getting married, so she braces herself for a weekend of awkward, passive-aggressive reunions. Liz has grown, though; she can handle whatever awaits her. But on the night of the wedding, somewhere between dancing and dessert, the newlyweds’ daughter, Caroline, disappears—and the only thing left behind is a piece of white fabric covered in blood.
