Historia
Everyone knows who the magical estate will choose for its next ruler. Or do they? Will it be the lord’s eldest son, who he despised? His favourite nephew, with the strongest magical land-sense? His scandalous daughter, who ran away from home years ago to study illusion? Hetta knows it won’t be her, and she’s glad of it. Returning home for her father’s funeral, all Hetta has to do is survive the family drama and avoid entanglements with irritatingly attractive local men until the Choosing.

loved this book!!! Just when I thought I knew the direction it was going there was a pleasant twist that surprised me. full of color and flare and humbleness for the heroin that you don't often find in books.

Heart sting puller
Revisado: 02-10-21
Loved it! As a child of a German family who fought in the war, this book was hard to listen to, but couldn't stop once I started. oftentimes it's so hard to imagine what grandparents have seen or faced in their lives and to read a book that brings that question to the forefront was extremely eye-opening and riveting but also extremely heart wrenching. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who can think outside the box of what they think it might have been like to live during WWII and to be on the opposite side.

Historia
A coming-of-age tale for the young and naïve 17-year-old Catherine Morland, Northanger Abbey takes a decidedly comical look at themes of class, family, love and literature. Revelling in the sensationalist - and extremely popular - Gothic fiction of her day, the story follows Catherine out of Bath to the lofty manor of the Tilneys, where her overactive imagination gets to work constructing an absurd and melodramatic explanation for the death of Mrs Tilney, which threatens to jeopardise her newly forged friendships.

Historia
Married to Emperor Franz Joseph, Elisabeth—fondly known as Sisi—captures the hearts of her people as their “fairy queen,” but beneath that dazzling persona lives a far more complex figure. In mid-nineteenth-century Vienna, the halls of the Hofburg Palace buzz not only with imperial waltzes and champagne but with temptations, rivals, and cutthroat intrigue. Feeling stifled by strict protocols and a turbulent marriage, Sisi finds solace at her estate outside Budapest, where she rides her beloved horses and enjoys visits from a man with whom she’s unwittingly become enamored.

Historia
Probably the most shocking of the Brontës' novels, this novel had an instant and phenomenal success and is widely considered to be one of the first sustained feminist novels. A mysterious widow, Mrs. Helen Graham, arrives at Wildfell Hall, a nearby old mansion. A source of curiosity for the small community, the reticent Helen and her young son Arthur are slowly drawn into the social circles of the village.

Never read book before, but can't now....
Revisado: 06-15-18
I've wanted to read this book for awhile now; knew it would be long so thought I would try audio. Big mistake! I can't tell who the narrator is talking for! She's going so fast and not changing any pitches or tones in her voice I can't keep track of who is who and what is what. I will have to just go out and buy the book now bc I can listen to this anymore. Way way way too confused while trying to listen to it.

Historia
In the first book of this brilliant series, Stephen King introduces listeners to one of his most powerful creations: Roland of Gilead, The Last Gunslinger. He is a haunting figure, a loner on a spellbinding journey into good and evil. In his desolate world, which frighteningly mirrors our own, Roland tracks The Man in Black, encounters an enticing woman named Alice, and begins a friendship with the boy from New York named Jake.

this is a hard book to listen to
Revisado: 03-01-18
the book was good but very hard to listen to because of all the jumping around. And it was hard to know what some of the words that are used for description mean. I think this might be the first book that I would watch the movie first then read the book BC I was lost through most of it. still good though, but confusing.

and all the different voiced that we're attempted to be used for the different characters was distracting and unnecessary and made me skip majority of the book. I like the book, but not the narrator.
