Ok story, mediocre prose
Revisado: 04-08-25
The story would have been fine, but the writing was rather meh, so I dropped a star. The narrator was fine.

Ok
Revisado: 03-21-25
This could have been great, but fell short. Mostly because every single "hero" is messed up. Only two are somewhat normal, but talk about having PTSD. and having to work hard to get better. No matter the amount of crap they went through, or how many of them had preexisting conditions, there would be some that make it through without crippling mental trauma. It's just too extreme in the, everyone's messed up, direction to make sense to me. I get it your trying to be more "real", but you went too far the other way.

I didn't hate it....
Revisado: 12-24-24
It dragged out a lot. Lots of internal monologue, lots of telling not showing. The fact the half the book is one floor was rather irritating. Like one short chapter about anything happening on earth. Either don't have anything or ha e more than one chapter. I do like the world building. The universe is cool. I know this was kind of a setup for hopefully a much better third book. Could use more loot. Oh and I've never been a fan of mind powers, so I'm a little worried about if I'll keep enjoying this if the MC doesn't stop leaning on that so hard.

Bad Cliffhanger!
Revisado: 12-24-24
I enjoyed most of the book. The MC is a human disliking human, but not the worst of that kind since she doesn't harp on it constantly. I guess that's the trope for a typical fantasy druid so, meh.
Anyway the magic system, and litrpg stuff is rather simplistic. and hand wavy, but not the worst.
The supporting characters started to have some depth to them later on in the story, and the main plot was going ok.
All in all an ok book, which is like a 4 star for the litrpg scene, but then there had to be a really poorly executed cliffhanger. The proper way to do a cliffhanger is to resolve, or mostly resolve the main issue the story is dealing with, and then not reveal if the MC or maybe their best friend or lover, survives the ordeal. Or do and then reveal that what their dealing with right now is only the tip of the iceberg, and there's an even bigger issue that they have to do with. Or a huge overarching plot twist gets revealed. Not ending the book in the literal middle of the climactic battle, which was also rather enemic. I get what they were going for, but it was just poorly ddone.
I'll probably grab the next one on KU if I can just so I can finish the ending of this book. After that, I'll have to decide if I want to continue with the audiobook or not.

Historia
A visit to London’s Natural History Museum became a horror show as magic flooded Earth. Now, Thomas is entombed there as a Dungeon Core, with only the creatures on display available as minions. All over the globe, patches of land have been replaced by strange alien environments, containing not only monsters from myth and legend, but also humanity’s worst nightmares. Leviathans stir at the bottom of the ocean, dragons have reclaimed the skies, and shadows are once again something to fear.

Sn annoying narrator!
Revisado: 12-15-24
I've listened to this narrator before, and didn't really like him, but didn't think he was awful. This time he was awful. Just on the edge of unbearable. I had to slow it to 80% and take breaks every half hour or so to make it through. Someone else suggested a female narrator for the cops parts, and that would probably have helped a lot. I think if he stopped over exaggerating everything to cartoonish proportions he might be ok.
Other than that. I enjoyed the story. I'll definitely not be getting the audiobook for the next one if it's the same narrator. I'll just have to add it to my huge backlog of books to read.

Historia
Juliet Bianchi has evolved from a lowly scrap cutter to a fully-loaded, combat-ready dark side operator. Known as "Lucky," she takes high-risk jobs for high-tech upgrades (you know, like weaponry, super reflexes, mind reading, etc.) that make her nearly invulnerable. Juliet is looking forward to some downtime to recover, recoup, and reunite with her mates from the space salvage trawler Kowashi. But after a while, she gets that old itch she can never quite seem to scratch: to infiltrate, and hopefully subvert, the all-powerful WBD megacorporation that created the AI that changed her life.

I was a Hunter, and I honored the Code. For my services to humanity and for leading a "proper" life, I was to be rewarded. A new life after death, and a new world to give me some well-deserved rest. But something went wrong. Once again, I must fight. The Monsters that face me here are far more terrifying than those of my past life. They are cleverer, crueler, more unpredictable. And their name is.

Mostly good!
Revisado: 12-10-24
The narrator isn't the worst but he definitely has an almost Shatner like cadence which gets annoying. I'll be reading the next book myself when I find the time. Also not sure if it comes off worse because of the lackluster narrator, but the MC is an ass. Hopefully he changes his attitude a little as he progresses.

Good but too short!
Revisado: 12-09-24
I enjoy this story, but these books are too short. Right on the edge of value/content. I look forward to more, but hope the author increases the length or reduces the price.

Historia
For years, pilots who merely looked like soldiers were adequate. They filled the mechs. They filled roles. They supported Spann and his genetic offshoot of pure-blooded warriors known as the Superba. Spann's dream of absolute power ends with a single, crushing blow as a new enemy strikes at the Realm, leaving no survivors—followed by a mad dash to find fighters who can stand up in the old ways, using the mechs gifted to humanity by their oldest allies. Even in the midst of war, there is hope.

Meh
Revisado: 11-21-24
It was ok. Very stereotypical. Farmboy finds an ancient and powerful weapon and is thrust into being the hero. Internal mustache twisting schemers and external faceless overbearing evil alien bad guys. The only thing not there was a mentor figure that gets killed off to provide drive for the hero.
Now it is the first book, and it's a shortish one like most scifi series books, so maybe we'll get a more in depth story in the fallow up installments.
