Historia
Jason arrives at a kingdom in peril and he's surprised to discover that it's not his job to save it. With the authorities fulfilling their responsibilities (for once), he looks forward to some quiet time to rest and recuperate. The locals might not find ceaseless monster onslaughts and an interdimensional invasion relaxing, but Jason has had a rough few years. He's doing his best to let go of his anger. While his team is caught up in duty, Jason has no shortage of people looking to interfere with his rest. Enemies—old and new—are circling, and even would-be allies are trouble.

Refreshing after the slog of books 4-6
Revisado: 04-23-25
Books 4 through 6 were good but a bit of a slog. This book goes back to the roots of what made this series fun. It’s a nice palette cleanser.

Historia
It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Love seeing a politically savy protagonist.
Revisado: 03-26-25
Started off looking like it was going to be just another generic isekai fantasy with an overpowered main protagonist. Not the case at all. The MC puts in hard work every step of the way for every scrap of power he gets and is in no way overpowered relative to the power scale of this setting.
Where the story really sings though is in the chemistry between the characters. Jason isn’t just some generic spunky protagonist. He’s charismatic and politically savy. The real fantasy he fulfills is the fantasy of being able to speak truth to power and win.

In the magic lands of the Fae Wild, the Goblin King's virility is the lifeblood of the realm. But an insidious curse has put the kingdom on the precipice of a population panic. Enter Thomas Stone: architect, engineer, and unknowing half-blood heir to the goblin throne. Whisked away to a world where baby-making makes the world go round, Thomas finds himself in a pickle thicker than goblin stew. Birth rates are dropping faster than a fairy on a bad flight path, and it’s up to Thomas to save the fae from themselves.

Surprised that I ended up liking the plot more than the smut.
Revisado: 03-25-25
Honestly, this one surprised me. I like civ builder games. And I like erotic fiction. Putting the two together scratched an itch I didn’t know I had.
But then what really surprised me about this series was how the authors really know their audience and know what their audience expects and then subverts those expectations in surprising ways. Like, at first glance it looks like the main character has plot armor and that everything just conveniently works out for the MC, but then I stopped to think about it and I realized that every major win the MC had came about as a result of thoughtful planning and actions taken. This is a story told from the perspective of a ruler. Someone who runs things and gives orders. Not someone who gets into the mix to fight directly. Too many times in fantasy that features royalty as a protagonist we have the warrior king who fights on the front lines with his armies. But in reality the skills to be a great warrior are completely separate from the skills needed to be an effective ruler. And this story did a surprisingly good job of showcasing that. It actually got to a point where I was more interested in the political maneuvering and civ building aspects of the story than the smut, of which there was A LOT most of it high quality.

One of the most well produced audiobooks I’ve ever listened too.
Revisado: 06-08-24
The performance of the narrators was stunning. The story itself was a lot of fun and a lot of great drama and definitely a very creative spin on the serial killer genre. But where this production truly stands out is in the quality of the narration. Putting two narrators for Rowan and Sloane respectively and having them play off each other really brought the whole thing to life.

This story is a gem.
Revisado: 12-19-23
I was ready to drop my audible subscription, but this series keeps me hooked. It’s not a particularly bold or innovative piece of literature. But it’s feel good epic fantasy. Just the right balance between struggle to make it feel like to the audience that the mc earned their rewards, but enough wish fulfillment to give you that nice popcorn comfort that you want to distract you from the grind of daily life.

Went in with low expectations. Found them happily exceeded.
Revisado: 11-18-23
It’s rare to see a fantasy that’s actually competent and self-reflective like a real person. I didn’t have high expectations for this book but I found myself pleasantly surprised at how much fun I was having listening to it. And I love seeing the way in which Alex tries to exploit the system turning a handicap into a benefit.

My life was nothing but mundane until the night I met her. Lustful, beautiful...and also a fairy. And after one wild night, she's chosen me as the savior of an entire race of fae—a race that has lost the means to protect themselves, to rebuild everything they’ve lost, and most of all, to procreate. They need to be rebuilt and re-bred, and I’m just the man for the job.

Honestly better then I expected it to be
Revisado: 04-19-23
Honestly it’s better then I expected it to be. The bar for quality for these kinds of erotic escapist fantasies is pretty low but I would say it definitely goes past the minimum threshold. The characters are cute and easy to invest. The MC actually has a personality of some kind and isn’t just a blank avatar for the audience to project onto. So yeah, not terrible. Not terrible at al.

Loved it!
Revisado: 10-27-22
Brando Sando does it again! So many beloved characters from the series on an awesome high seas adventure. It’s everything you want out of a good fantasy story. Obviously this novella is best enjoyed by people who are already stormlight archive fans so my review is pretty pointless since I would only be preaching to the converted. But damn, this was just so good. Michael Kramer and Kate Reading hit it out of the park just like they always do.

Not nearly enough sex.
Revisado: 09-19-22
I picked this series up because I wanted me some fantasy themed elf erotica. The first book did not disappoint on that front. The sequel did though. There was hardly any sex at all in this one and as result it was basically just a generic fantasy romp. Not that there’s anything wrong with that but it’s not what I picked this book up for.
