Matt and Jeff’s Magnum Opus

Both artists are fantastic on their own but what makes this audible amazing is the combination of these two artists. I don’t think I would love this series as much if it wasn’t for the voice acting, but I listened to Jeff Hayes other work and while he does great work it’s this story that pushes his talent to greatness. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. 10/10

Boring waste of time

The only good thing I have to say about this book is that is great for people having problem sleeping. Absolutely nothing got resolved in this book. The author would rather spend 80% of the book explaining non-sensical mumbo-jumbo powers cultivating garbage than actually moving forward with the plot. I’m done with this series, the first few books were amazing so I kept going thinking it would go back to being good again but I finally coming to terms this series is no longer for me and will cut my loses.

LITRPG masterpiece

I didn’t realize how much I needed this book. I’m a huge fan of the LitRPG genre but Im’ so tired of authors placing the emphasis on stats and RPG mechanics over the actual story and character development. This book series is fantastic because it makes the story the center piece and the main characters have actual growth, not just in stats but in their personality. However, what took this series into another whole level of amazingness were the two narrators phenomenal performance, I can’t overstate enough how great they both were and now I’m sad because it’s going to be hard trying to find another series that is this fantastic.

Good intro to LitRPG genre

Let me get the negative out of the way first, the first 3 chapters waste too much time before it gets into the gaming world. The characters are all a-holes so it’s hard to stay with the book because there’s not much to like about them. However once the storyline shifts into the action and gaming mechanics with progression this is where this book shines. Absolutely loved it. All the characters do change for the better so stick with it till the end it’s worth the surprise ending.

90 percent cultivation jargon nonsense

If you want to listen to hours on upon hours about a guy stuck inside a giant leviathan fish world doing nothing but training by taking pills, consuming treasures and listening to metaphysical munbo jombo, and retrospective nonsense with no plot whatsoever then this is your book. I LOVED this series at the beginning now is just not going anywhere and I feel the author set up such a ridiculously over the top world building that I just don’t see any ending to this series.

Sleep Therapy in Disguise

Full disclaimer, I made it to chapter 16 and quit listening.

This is NOT the book the get if you're starting out listening to audible books. This book demands your full attention and even when you do give it your attention, you will need to listen to it for a very long time to keep up with the story line and all the characters the author keeps throwing at the reader.

I usually listen to my audible books when I got to bed, which tends to be a very bad habit since some are so captivating that they tend to keep me up. Sanderson books for example are a great example. This book on the other hand I was asleep in less than 3 minutes. So after 12 to 15 attempts, I finally listen to it during the day, and I have to say the book is just not good.

1. Way too many characters.
2. Not enough time dedicated to each one before it jumps to a new one.
3. The names are hard to follow, granted that's partly my fault since I'm horrible at remembering names, however I have to share some of the blame because of item number 2.
4. I was 16 chapters in and the story was just too boring to continue.

I really wanted to like this book, so maybe I will give it another chance when I'm in a different state of mind, but as of right now, I can not recommend this book.

Easy to listen and very engaging story.

If you ever played Stellaris or Galactic Civilization strategy games on the PC this series will appeal to you. The story is engaging and just like the games there is character and empire building in the story. The narrator is simply fantastic and the dialogue is easy to follow and easy to understand for someone like me who has to put some real effort into paying attention.
