Brilliant and Alarming

The book is both brilliant and alarming!
The Audible version is exceptional and well articulated. Truly clear and easily followed. I saw a discussion by Sen Whitehouse streamed on The Commonwealth Club which set my interest alight leading to this Audible podcast.
I rarely write reviews but this warranted it. Listen and or read or both! Well worth it

Required listening! Not kidding.

Professor Snyder extends the ideas in On Tyranny into this week providing great insight into Putin’s war on Ukraine. His expertise there is extraordinary, he shares it calmly and clearly. I felt like I was in a graduate seminar. He doesn’t read the material, he discusses it. I feel privileged to have been able to listen to it and will do it over and over again!

The drunk man claimed he saw her thrown into the canal by another man, but the following day he couldn't remember a thing.

Fantastic writer!

Donna Leon is an amazing writer . Enfolded in her comassario Brunetti stories are
lessons in semantics, Classical Latin and Greek literature, contemporary Italian politics and economics, fashion, law, and society. And this is far from complete. Each book (audiobook!) opens new vistas. Can’t say how many I have read but I fear I am running out. To be honest I plan to relisten to the lot!

A remarkable story well performed!

I wasn’t sure if I would listen to the whole book. Once I started I could not stop. I went from 8pm to about 5am! Even with a degree in American history tho was my first encounter with stories of women in the European Theater of Operations. It was a refreshing perspective and filled with historical events with which I was unfamiliar. And told in a highly engaging style. My experience with women authors writing about The War is that too often it is related in a masculine voice redolent with statements of fact. To be presented with experience told in women’s voices from women’s perspectives was marvelous. It’s a five star read/listen! Look forward to doing it all again soon!
