Historia
For Oxford student Kivrin, traveling back to the 14th century is more than the culmination of her studies - it's the chance for a wonderful adventure. For Dunworthy, her mentor, it is cause for intense worry about the thousands of things that could go wrong.

I must not be her demographic
Revisado: 07-11-13
What would have made Doomsday Book better?
This book would have been readable if she didn't repeat everything endlessly and if she didn't confuse suspense with making the reader feel impatient. I found myself saying out loud, "Ok ok ok. I don't have dementia. Ok, I've got it." I rarely talk to books. By the way, time travel is my favorite genre so my disappointment with this book and series is phenomenal.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Dickens. He knows how to move a complex story along.
Would you be willing to try another one of Jenny Sterlin’s performances?
She was good. The book was awful.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Doomsday Book?
Probably two thirds of them because they were unnecessarily overly descriptive and/or repetitive.

Historia
Isak Dinesen earned international fame for Seven Gothic Tales and Out of Africa, and other stories that skillfully combine elements of fable, social conflict, and psychological drama. She was twice nominated for the Nobel Prize. Yet the story of her life - her travels, affairs, and friendships - remains the greatest story of all.

Slight problem with the reader
Revisado: 12-06-09
Judith Thurman is brilliant. I loved the book! My only complaint is with Davina Porter. She does have a lovely voice and accent but she swallows words and phrases in every paragraph. When listening without headphones, in a car for example, this is very frustrating and annoying.
