Historia
The Clockwork Universe is the story of a band of men who lived in a world of dirt and disease but pictured a universe that ran like a perfect machine. A meld of history and science, this book is a group portrait of some of the greatest minds who ever lived as they wrestled with natures most sweeping mysteries. The answers they uncovered still hold the key to how we understand the world.

Historia
Sarah Vowell's special brand of armchair history makes the bizarre and esoteric fascinatingly relevant and fun. She takes us from the modern-day reenactment of an Indian massacre to the Mohegan Sun casino, from old-timey Puritan poetry, where "righteousness" is rhymed with "wilderness," to a Mayflower-themed waterslide. Throughout, The Wordy Shipmates is rich in historical fact, humorous insight, and social commentary by one of America's most celebrated voices.

Historia
More than a million listeners have thrilled to Bill O'Reilly's Killing Lincoln, the can't-stop-listening work of nonfiction about the shocking assassination that changed the course of American history. Now the anchor of The O'Reilly Factor recounts in gripping detail the brutal murder of John Fitzgerald Kennedy—and how a sequence of gunshots on a Dallas afternoon not only killed a beloved president but also sent the nation into the cataclysmic division of the Vietnam War and its culture-changing aftermath.

Who is O'Reilly going to kill next?
Revisado: 03-28-13
I enjoyed this one as much as I enjoyed his Lincoln book, this one was a little longer, but still light fare. I listen to a lot of historical audio-books and these last two O'Reilly books are a nice change of pace, not as in depth as most books on the subject but he hits all the salient points and does so in a nice well paced manner.

Historia
The Difference Engine is an alternate history novel by William Gibson and Bruce Sterling. It is a prime example of the steampunk sub-genre; It posits a Victorian Britain in which great technological and social change has occurred after entrepreneurial inventor Charles Babbage succeeded in his ambition to build a mechanical computer called Engines. The fierce summer heat and pollution have driven the ruling class out of London and the resulting anarchy allows technology-hating Luddites to challenge the intellectual elite.

Simon Vance is excellent as always, Gibson not so
Revisado: 03-28-13
The performance of this story is first rate, the story however I think tries too hard to include every notable figure of the era and in doing so loses something in pacing and structure.
Still a story worth listening too, just not first rate.

Historia
The anchor of The O'Reilly Factor recounts one of the most dramatic stories in American history - how one gunshot changed the country forever. In the spring of 1865, the bloody saga of America's Civil War finally comes to an end after a series of increasingly harrowing battles. President Abraham Lincoln's generous terms for Robert E. Lee's surrender are devised to fulfill Lincoln's dream of healing a divided nation. But one man and his band of murderous accomplices are not appeased....

Good, but short
Revisado: 02-19-12
Where does Killing Lincoln rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This audiobook is worth a listen, but has it'e flaws.
What did you like best about this story?
The story is well written, fast paced, and quite entertaining.
How could the performance have been better?
They needed to hire a professional reader, Bill O'Reilly may be OK for TV but he is not very skilled as a narrator.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, and due to it's rather short duration this can be easily achieved.
Any additional comments?
Audiobooks of this duration should be only 1/2 a credit at most, I disliked spending a full credit for this when I could get books 4 to 5 times it's size for the same price.
