Historia
All Hamish Macbeth wants is a quiet life in his peaceful home in the Highland village of Lochdubh. But when his newly-assigned constable arrives, he presents Hamish with a surprise and a secret. Getting to the bottom of the secret becomes the least of Hamish’s problems when he meets a family who have a score to settle with a sinister man who has mysteriously gone missing. Discovering a murdered woman’s body puts further pressure on Hamish, especially when it becomes clear that the murdered woman and the missing man are linked.

Narrator does Poor Job and Writer not much Better
Revisado: 02-24-25
The narrator makes Hamish sound like a mutant leprechaun, Pricilla sounds like a vaudeville transvestite, with the only character sounding like they should is Blair. I had hoped the books would get better after a period of time following MC Beaton’s death, but it has not.

Absolutely Excellent!
Revisado: 02-17-25
I have read all the books about Hercule Poirot by Sophie Hannah (by and through the auspices of Agatha Christie’s heirs and publishers), and found this book to be the best. The book has twists and turns as do most mysteries, but the examples of human behavior, love and justice are great.

Her goal is personal: to find her brother, who is being held as a POW in a Nazi labor camp. Through one high-risk mission after another, she is paired with the reckless and rebellious Nick Gallagher, growing ever close to him until the war's end brings with it an act of deep betrayal.

A Melodrama that Did Not Mean to be
Revisado: 12-19-24
This book amazed me. I was amazed it was published. I was amazed that I kept listening to see if it would get better. The book is awful and doesn’t border on the ridiculous. It is ridiculous.

The Best in a While
Revisado: 08-10-24
I am a Gabriel Allon fan from the beginning. This is an excellent example of how the ex-spy could live after turning from his spy world to his art world. It was great to have Timothy Peel back in a starring role. More soon, please!

The endless story of over-dramatics, total predictability, and romantic slop. I had to finish it just to see if it got any better. It did not.

Good except for Mia
Revisado: 07-01-24
Enjoyable books for the most part. The books are a little derivative. If the author would just lose Mia and her incessant whining, or write a female character that is less of a nag, it would be much better.

Historia
When a Hungarian immigrant is dismembered near London's River Thames, Commander Monk is called to the eerie scene, where 16 candles surround the corpse. As identical murders pop up around the city, Monk confronts the unsettling options: could it be the work of a secret society? A serial madman? Or is a xenophobic Brit targeting foreigners? A local doctor who speaks Hungarian from his days on the battlefield may be able to help, but his own struggles with post-traumatic stress have left his memory in shambles.

Historia
An unexpected death on a lonely road outside of Utah’s Bears Ears National Park raises questions for Navajo Tribal Police officers Jim Chee and Bernadette Manuelito. Why would a seasoned outdoorsman and well-known paleontologist freeze to death within walking distance of his car? A second death brings more turmoil. Who is the unidentified man killed during a home invasion where nothing seems to have been taken? Why was he murdered? An illicit business, a fossilized jaw bone, hints of witchcraft, and a mysterious disappearance during a blizzard add to the peril.
