The author and his friend lived an experience most people never want to go through and few would willilngly enter. They entered into homelessness without backups of extra cash, credit cards or a secret place to shower or eat. They introduced homeless people as individuals in all of their strengths and weaknesses. I was amazed at the way these men stuck to their plan and did not share their "real identity" or do anything to set themselves apart in the eyes of the homeless or non homeless. They ended the book in a great epilogue that gave advice to anyone who wanted to help homeless people as individuals and as a group. I am awed by what these men did in order to really know what it means to love our neighbors and to really care about others.

this is a book in the "inspirational" genre. It has good characters that end up being more believable as the story goes on. It seems like it could fall into stereotypes and typical characters then they develop realistically. The church people are caring and the growing sense of faith in the teenage girl, Angel and the "daddy" is gradual, real and heartfelt. A little Depression history and facts wove into the story and made me feel the times. This book was enjoyable and I will miss the characters.
