A great book for future owners and managers
Revisado: 09-26-23
I was a fan of Casey from LinkedIn. I watched him grow in size and found myself wishing I could have been a part if his rockets ship.
The lessons he learned and solid foundation for building a no BS company are a great framework. You can easily adapt the advice he’s given for your own purposes whoever I think, sticking somewhat true to his plan, will yield you the best results.
Highly recommend this for someone with 2 or more employees.
As someone who has built and exited businesses, Casey lays it out with prine examples, mistakes and success stories, all backed into personal history and truths.

The voice changes were stellar and vital for a book like this with tons of characters.
A fun and intriguing tale of sci-fi, love, war, treachery and conquering of cultures.
Worth a listen. Worth “shedding tears to the dead”

Slow and steady thriller
Revisado: 02-22-21
The narrator, Whil Wheaton is incredible. Let’s get that out of the way. His passion for sci-fi and techy books is obvious while listening to this.
I was a sceptic of how you could top the original book and here we are, just finished a thrilling, twisting book that pits you in the First Person View of an epic quest and an impossible enemy.
Without a doubt a solid book.

I’m a parent, and after listening to Michelle’s book, I feel like Barack had a perfect marriage between his time before and during his life with Michelle. It was a great story.
But, I think Barack seemed to gloss over the fact that they were trying pretty darn hard to have kids. Sure, it’s not as daunting for men, as we don’t carry the child, but I would have sworn he would have elaborated on the trials and tribulations of trying to become pregnant and stresses it causes, between building careers.
Barack was a great narrator. Or should I say Barry!
Thanks for the great book, wonderful anecdotes and a better understanding as to what it’s like to be one of the greatest modern leaders of the world.
Now go live out a wonderful life as a father and inspiration to the world.

In Healing Politics, El-Sayed traces the life of a young idealist, weaving together powerful personal stories and fascinating forays into history and science. Marrying his unique perspective with the science of epidemiology, El-Sayed diagnoses an underlying epidemic afflicting our country, an epidemic of insecurity. And to heal the rifts this epidemic has created, he lays out a new direction for the progressive movement. This is a bold, personal, and compellingly original book from a prominent young leader.

A bright star in the future of health and politics
Revisado: 07-15-20
This audiobook is read by Abdul El-Syed and it breaks down three major parts of his life.
We start with a glimpse of Abdul’s upbringing and struggles of trying to find his voice and place in the USA post 9-11. He pushed through the naive hatred and distain for people who “looked” like a terrorist and found his way into medical school. He met his wife, pushed his knowledge and continued to learn and see how the world was changing for the better only for those who controlled the power and finances.
The next phase follows his path in the health department. His struggles to make real change happen and treading through the mud to help throw a lifeline to underserved communities.
We then finish up with Abdul’s impressive run for Michigan’s Governor office with no prior political experience. Although his narrow lose in the primaries was heart breaking to his supporters, the lessons learned and bonds made with folks like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez solidified his vision that could be for the future generations.
Throughout the book, he paints a picture of his past experiences and world knowledge of how governments and regimes can and do stifle its citizens. He follows that with the proverbial “why aren’t we doing better” attitude in which he obviously doesn’t just sit around for the answer. Abdul finally paints us his picture of a state of the USA where equal rights shouldn’t need marches or to be fought for; instead we should elect leaders who know how to govern with their hearts and minds.
I highly recommend this book and the audio version is that much better just to hear Abdul’s voice!

A passionate story winding through human psyche and potential
Revisado: 01-01-19
I read this book once as a youngster and now as an adult. It makes me want to believe that out of all evil can come greatness with good.
We start the story wondering if our downtrodden hero can amount to anything at all from his seemingly self-perpetuating prison.
With the help of disgruntled and beleaguered characters, we find a tale that twists us throughout the universe where our main character is able to discover how the universe works with or without him driving the charge.

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Tons of highlights in this book include everything from the unabashed truth about being honest with your internal self in order to promote self fulfilling prophecy. I think one of the best things about this book is that there are some hard learn life lessons from the author mixed in with anecdotes that prove the point.
I highly suggest this book for any entrepreneur who feels like they can’t call them self a CEO.

Zack Lightman has never much cared for reality. He vastly prefers the countless science-fiction movies, books, and videogames he's spent his life consuming. And too often, he catches himself wishing that some fantastic, impossible, world-altering event could arrive to whisk him off on a grand spacefaring adventure.

A robust tale that crashes and burns
Revisado: 02-14-18
This story is not as complex as you might think. While it is riveting with a single tracked adventure, you can sometimes spot the surprises. The end paves way for lack luster opportunities to continue the story.
Will Wheaton once again provides an epic performance and should be commended for helping this storyline come alive.
A great read and frankly...yeah...I’d like to see it as a movie (ugh)

From a former chef and server in the food industry I can say that I'm happy I got out. The life wasn't for me (I like seeing daylight) however, reading this book reminded me why you should always tip your servers make friends with the chef and not always the owner and never order fish on a Monday.
