Historia
Hilketa is a frenetic and violent pastime where players attack each other with swords and hammers. The main goal of the game: obtain your opponent's head and carry it through the goalposts. With flesh and bone bodies, a sport like this would be impossible. But all the players are "threeps", robot-like bodies controlled by people with Haden's Syndrome, so anything goes. No one gets hurt, but the brutality is real, and the crowds love it. Until a star athlete drops dead on the playing field.

Great book

My only complaint about this performance is that Wil Wheaton changed the voice of a central character (Van) from book one (Lock In) to this book.

I couldn't believe anyone could find an appropriate narrator for Travis McGee, but RP is it.

preferred the written format

I loved reading this book, where the tension built naturally and the ending seemed pretty and significant - a way of communicating other connections among all humanity and the meaning of individual experience. this did not come through in the audio version. I don't it was the performance, I love Richard Poe. I just think the nature of the story doesn't lend itself to the sound of a single voice or the steady cadence.
