I read this back in high school and decided to revisit it as an adult.
The story was better than I remember, and the narrator did a great job fleshing out the community with voice acting for the many characters.

One of the most important voices on climate change

I have spent years studying clinate change and sustainability and while most writing on the subject is either highly academic, fear mongering or biased denialism this author does not. Nor does this book rehash the same old carbon reduction techniques that I have heard argued a hundred times. Instead he aproaches the issue from unbiased, rational viewpoint and offers a systems based, holistic set of solutions to the problem.

Malfunction

The player malfunctioned somewhere half way through this massive story. Now it is not letting me skip forward to find my spot and keeps playing from the beginning.
The story is good and the readers are great just like the previous books, but this playback issue is driving me nuts.

Biologist turns shaman

An interesting take of a woman who seems to make a transition from marine biologist to plant shaman via a series of sensory/cognition experiments on plants and through the use of traditional plant medicines. This book challenges conventional scientific knowledge in a thought provoking manner that Grant's inspiration for shedding the reductionist trappings of materialism in favor of more animistic approach.

Fascinating, creative and original. 3xcellent hard science fiction at its finest. The way the book is written to span ages in between chapters lends it self well to intermittent listening during commutes. The narrator does a great job as well.
