I hated this book plus buyer beware
Revisado: 02-16-24
I have read many books like this and loved them. I could not get through more than the first third of this book due to the total lack of originality and inspiration. I went to the reviews and so many said “keep reading it gets better!” No thanks. I understand a slow start but this doesn’t build at all.
The narrator is excellent as always and while many call her monotone I do not find her so.
Now, buyer beware. Audible does not allow you to return books if you purchased them with money. Only credits. Geez audible, do better. When we buy multiple books from your sales we are bound to get a dud now and then. Greedy multibillion dollar company. As a customer with over a thousand audiobooks in my bookshelf I have never run into this issue before and am wondering if it is a more recent change. Hmmm

When Ben, a suburban family man, takes a business trip to rural Pennsylvania, he decides to spend the afternoon before his dinner meeting on a short hike. Once he sets out into the woods behind his hotel, he quickly comes to realize that the path he has chosen cannot be given up easily. Liked the end??
Revisado: 08-11-23
This book makes the protagonist slog through a disjointed collection of quests for too little payoff. Ultimately not a top read for me. I liked the last 5 minutes a lot.

Historia
In this richly imagined dystopic future brought by global warming, mass human migrations are constant, water and food are scarce, new babies are illegal, and the disintegrating society is run by corporates who feed the people a steady diet of "pharma" to keep them happy. Usually, 17-year-old Nat doesn't let it get her down too much: this, after all, is the life she's used to; and though she is nostalgic for the ancient world she's heard about, she's also realistic, cheerful, and tough. But now her family have come to Hawaii for their parents' Final Week.

Bad pharma? Bad corps?
Revisado: 07-25-23
Not sure if this was a thinly disguised rant on
vaccines and pharmaceuticals or evil corporations or conspiracies … It held my interest but only barely and its dispassionate narrator belied the horrific circumstances told in the narrative. Couldn’t return but probably would have.

Ward blew up the series
Revisado: 07-14-23
No spoilers, but more than one bomb blast takes place here. It’s as though the author grew tired of the series and decided to torpedo it for good. I love the BDB world and hate this book. Narration was great as always. It’s difficult to really say more without spoilers but I personally hate the direction these books are heading.

Historia
Blue Echohawk doesn't know who she is. She doesn't know her real name or when she was born. Abandoned at two and raised by a drifter, she didn't attend school until she was ten years old. At nineteen, when most kids her age are attending college or moving on with life, she is just a senior in high school. With no mother, no father, no faith, and no future, Blue Echohawk is a difficult student, to say the least.
