Wonderful Synopsis
Revisado: 03-27-25
Ben and Aaron went through all of the highlights of the year including the many interviews that were conducted. Both men said they don't consider themselves interviewers but they are wrong. I always enjoy listening to an interview that Ben or both conduct. Insightful and probing questions are asked that bring out facts that I would have never known. It was a great episode to explore what you might be missing if you are listening to the podcast regularly!

Historia
Relentless phone calls interrupt the peace of a warm August morning in Three Pines. Though the tiny Québec village is impossible to find on any map, someone has managed to track down Armand Gamache, head of homicide at the Sûreté, as he sits with his wife in their back garden. Reine-Marie watches with increasing unease as her husband refuses to pick up, though he clearly knows who is on the other end. When he finally answers, his rage shatters the calm of their quiet Sunday morning.

Slightly Disappointed
Revisado: 02-13-25
For the first time I had trouble following the characters in one of Ms. Penny's books. Maybe it was me but I found the monks names and the names of the people in charge of the police hard to keep up with.
The new narrator has a pleasant voice. However, he tends to run on with the sentences in places where a pause is needed. or, a change in voice for a jest, etc.

Somewhat Predictable but Good
Revisado: 02-07-23
I really liked and enjoyed this book. Toward the end it started to become predictable but I still enjoyed the outcomes. It is a well written story and I liked all of the characters. If you love to walk into a book store you will like this book!

Historia
It’s spring and Three Pines is reemerging after the harsh winter. But not everything buried should come alive again. Not everything lying dormant should reemerge. But something has. As the villagers prepare for a special celebration, Armand Gamache and Jean-Guy Beauvoir find themselves increasingly worried. A young man and woman have reappeared in the Sûreté du Québec investigators’ lives after many years. The two were young children when their troubled mother was murdered, leaving them damaged, shattered. Now they’ve arrived in the village of Three Pines. But to what end?

Best One Yet
Revisado: 01-05-23
I think this was possibly her best book yet. Perhaps that is because the painting and everything to do with it appealed to me. The history as well. I was enthralled with this book!

Historia
It's a time for getting cozy in front of whisky barrel wood fires and enjoying a dram and a treacle pudding with the people you love - unless, of course, you've accidentally gotten pregnant by your ex-boss and don't know how to tell him. In the season for peace and good cheer, will Flora find the nerve to reveal the truth to her nearest and dearest? Will her erstwhile co-parent, Joel, think she’s the bearer of glad tidings - or is this Christmas going to be as bleak as the Highlands in midwinter?

Worth A Listen
Revisado: 11-07-22
The first time that I tried to listen to this book I didn't get very far. I didn't like the narrator and I thought the beginning too complicated. After several months I tried it again and I'm glad I did!! I found the story to be not only interesting but worth contemplating. Joan Allen did a fine job with narration. Well worth your credit and your time.

Not My Favorite Narrator
Revisado: 10-08-22
I really did not like the job that the narrator was doing when I first started listening to this book. About halfway through I settled into the story and it didn't bother me as much. However, my favorite narrator for Ms. George's books continues to be Donada Peter's followed by Davina Porter.
