Historia
In a compelling narrative that introduces historical and contemporary research on self-directed education, Unschooled also spotlights how a diverse group of individuals and organizations are evolving an old schooling model of education. These innovators challenge the myth that children need to be taught in order to learn.

Gets a person critically thinking
Revisado: 05-24-24
Good points made. Gets a person thinking outside the current public school system. Encouraging for traditional homeschoolers to also think outside the box of their “school”.

So motivating!
Revisado: 08-17-22
I love that the author read the book. Makes it so good!
I do feel that this book is just a more flushed out version of her book “Organizing for the Rest of Us”. So it did feel a bit repetitive, but she definitely speaks my slob language and I highly recommend this book!

Loved it!!
Revisado: 05-16-22
As someone who has read many similar books and does an okay -ish job of organizing and picking up, but not the best at cleaning, I LOVED her approach and strategies! I found her to be a kindred spirit with many of the similar struggles to keep my home clean & clutter free. I will be buying more of her books once I implement her strategies in this book.

Historia
In the newly revised and expanded second edition of Free-Range Kids, New York columnist-turned-movement leader Lenore Skenazy delivers a compelling and entertaining look at how we got so worried about everything our kids do, see, eat, read, wear, watch, and lick - and how to bid a whole lot of that anxiety goodbye. With real-world examples, advice, and a gimlet-eyed look at the way our culture forces fear down our throats, Skenazy describes how parents and educators can step back so kids step up.

Easy to feel stress
Revisado: 04-29-22
I found the first few hours of listening a little stressful because of the subject matter (why parents are afraid). I think I would have been less stressed had I read the first few chapter and then listened to the rest of the book.
Great Topic! Great Book! Highly recommend, I’d advise reading or listening in small snippets the first couple hours if you are feeling anxious while listening.

Historia
A veteran clinical psychologist exposes why doctors, teachers, and parents incorrectly diagnose healthy American children with serious psychiatric conditions. In recent years there has been an alarming rise in the number of American children and youth assigned a mental health diagnosis. Current data from the Centers for Disease Control reveal a 41 percent increase in rates of ADHD diagnoses over the past decade and a forty-fold spike in bipolar disorder diagnoses. Similarly, diagnoses of autism spectrum disorder has increased by 78 percent since 2002.

Great
Revisado: 03-29-16
Excellent. But really intense--not a light listen. Highly recommend it. Though I had to stop listening for a couple days so as not to get overwhelmed by the content.
