Revisado: 03-05-21
A lot of series tend to flop in the 2nd book. Not true here. I enjoyed this book as much the first book. This series you really need to read/listen to in order to get the full feel of the story.
In this book its been months since the 1st book. Ollie has spent all her money and tge bills are piling up. So she decides to suck it up and ask Cane to work with her again.

Historia
Ollie Wit is the strongest Shadow Walker born in decades, but it's a gift with a steep price. Walking in the Shadowlands can bring untold powers and spells, and even greater risks. Every step into that other world brings her closer to the monsters that have haunted her since a child, destroyed her family and wreaked havoc all around her. Kane knows Ollie is the key to getting the spell he needs and he's the answer to ending her torment. But it's a bargain that brings her closer to her own destruction

Interesting story
Revisado: 02-16-21
Nate's sister puts an ad for a mail order bride for him. He knows nothing about this. He gets a ton of mail and a visit from his sister, that's his first clue what is going on. He makes his sister write all the women back apologizing for what she has done. One woman Ellen who would be more than happy to just keep his house for him writes back again saying just that. Something about her first letter and her second catch Nate's attention so he sends her the ticket to come be his housekeeper. And well its a romance book you can figure out what happens from there.

It doesn't matter...until those that caused the deaths come back - those that sprang from the earth. Those that need. Those that are not human. The Harris's nice house stands between them and what they must have. Nothing has ever mattered more.

I just kind of feel that this story is kind of let to your own imagination. Either I was distracted and never really got the full meaning to the book or it wasn't there. I mean you pick up on the details along the way and get an idea of what is going on but I just never really got all of it,

favorite in the series
Revisado: 12-13-20
I love that the books in this series do not have to be read back to. Yes there are updates on the lives of the past mail order brides in each book but it is easy to catch up what you missed.
This was my favorite of tge books I have listened to. I really liked that it had action added to the adventure and romance.
This is the story of Darcy. Darcy is a a well to do lady on her own due to an inheritance from her father. But during the time a single woman really had no rights to their money or property. So her 1/2 brother who was left in the will to share the inheritance is being a bit greedy. He wants her part too and is willing to go to any lengths to get it including murder.
Darcy heads out to marry the recluse Gideon not just to get control of her inheritance and to hide from her 1/2 brother but those are her main reasons. When she meets Gideon she gains more reasons. If they survive her brothers attack.

Book 4 in the Mail Order Brides of the West
Revisado: 11-30-20
Lina is book 4 of the Mail Order Brides of the West series by Debra Holland. These books can be read as stand alones but there are updates of each of the brides before in the series. It is not real hard to follow without the rest of the series though. I have listened to book 1 Trudy but this is my 2nd book in the series. I was able to catch up on Trudy and Evie easy enough.
In the book Lina Napolitano is one of the woman who befriended Trudy at Mrs. Seymour home where the bride's all live and learn to become good wives. Lina was a Nanny but her charges are now old enough to go off to school so her services are no longer needed. Not wanting to return to her huge families home she signs up to be a Mail order Bride.
Jonah Barrett has just lost his wife during childbirth of their stillborn daughter. He is left to run his farm and raise a toddler son named Adam alone. When Adam falls into the fire Jonah decides it is time he needs another wife to care for Adam. He knows Trudy and Seth and knows Trudy's story of being a mail order bride. Trudy and Seth help him with the letters and references to go through the agency. Trudy also thinks she knows the perfect bride, her friend Lina.
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Debra Holland. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.
