Great tool for building skills
Revisado: 02-10-25
This book is best read after doing a Myer-Briggs personality assessment simply for the introduction to the personality types. If you have e that basis then this book is a fantastic tool for better understanding the various personalities you will meet.
I especially liked the sections on thin slicing and walking through the various body language cues that people use and exhibit in communication. Although I am 51 I am still learning about reading people, because there are so many cultures, and subcultures here in the USA. Being on construction management and as a developer no two people are alike, and I meet folks from all over the country and world. It’s crazy how many different social norms you’ll run into just in your local region, let alone in your travels.
This is truly a skill you build everyday of your life by watching people and seeing their interactions with each other and through your own experiences. While I have more skills and experience than a younger person, I find new folks from differing backgrounds behave slightly different. I suppose that’s why thin slicing is only 70-ish percent effective… there are always outliers.
We all have more to learn, and this is a great resource for finding basics and nuances that we may still need learn to better our communication skills.

Historia
Captain Jason Burke is a man apart, and not just because he's the only of his kind for thousands of light-years in any direction. The changes to his body and to his genetic code have made him faster, stronger, more able to survive in his dangerous occupation...but they've also ensured that he'll never truly fit in with others of his species. He always assumed he would live and die with his crew and never lay eyes on another human again. He was wrong.

While political and media elites hysterically condemn an imaginary epidemic of “white supremacy,” in the real world, white Americans are often openly discriminated against. Indeed, anti-white policies have become so interwoven in the fabric of American life that we often fail to recognize them.

Very important read
Revisado: 01-31-25
I personally have experienced anti-white racism. I found this book extremely enlightening, and important for everyone to read. It will get you angry, you will be frustrated, but in the last chapter, the roadmap that is offered is extremely useful and extremely good. I highly recommend everybody read this book regardless of your race or your leaning left or right.

Historia
The war on the Eastern Front from 1941 to 1945 was the bloodiest combat theater in the bloodiest war in history. Oberleutnant Friedrich Wilhelm Sander experienced this bloodshed firsthand when serving with the 11th Panzer-Regiment. This regiment made up the core of the 6th Panzer-Division, one of Hitler's top armored formations, which was involved in most of the major campaigns on the Eastern Front; campaigns such as Operation Barbarossa and Operation Winter Storm.

Very personal account
Revisado: 01-15-25
This is a great account of an individual in the slaughter that was the eastern front. While societies get caught up in the latest popular political ideals, they are often wrong and misguided. This individual got caught up in the popular Nazism of the day and my the end of his journals he’s tired, disillusioned, and wants the dying to end. He certainly fought to the end, but clearly suffered much. This is a fantastic first person account from which we can derive human aspects of this great conflict. It’s definitely a good read worth exploring.

Historia
The Galahad, a faster-than-light spacecraft, carries 50 scientists and engineers on a mission to prepare Kepler 452b, Earth's nearest habitable neighbor at 1400 light years away. With Earth no longer habitable and the Mars colony slowly failing, they are humanity's best hope. After 10 years in a failed cryogenic bed - body asleep, mind awake - William Chanokh's torture comes to an end as the fog clears, the hatch opens, and his friend and fellow hacker, Tom, greets him...by stabbing a screwdriver into his heart. This is the first time William dies.

Good mind bending twist
Revisado: 01-10-25
The twist at the end was surprisingly good, but I’m not one that’s into horror… I gave it a try, but a murder-horror plot just isn’t my cup of tea. However, if you like mind bending stories this one is well written and the performance is excellent. I’m sure a lot of folks out there will love this story, especially those who love tragic alternate reality stories. I certainly appreciate the author’s idea and skill in bringing this story to life.

Historia
Five years ago, the US Space Force became a reality. And while those writing the checks took things very seriously, the other military branches did not. As a result, Space Force was populated by undesirables. My name is Captain Ethan Stone, a decorated member of SEAL Team Six turned Space Force "recruit". Flash forward five years and between tenses. President West is in office. Power has shifted. And Space Force is defunded. With just a handful of us still living on base, we find ourselves being evicted. But before all of us can leave, aliens invade.

Historia
Britain's Special Air Service - or SAS - was the brainchild of David Stirling, a young, gadabout aristocrat whose aimlessness in early life belied a remarkable strategic mind. Where most of his colleagues looked at a battlefield map of World War II's African theater and saw a protracted struggle with Rommel's desert forces, Stirling saw an opportunity: Given a small number of elite, well-trained men, he could parachute behind enemy lines and sabotage their airplanes and war matériel.

This history should be known!
Revisado: 06-06-24
Who knew how interesting and entrepreneurial the original SAS commandos were. Sometimes they were bumbling through, but more often than not they knew how to hit hard and have an outsized impact on the enemy’s plans. Stirling a “lazy” borderline useless officer by the ways of the “King’s Army” found his unique way to fight and advance special operations when even his immediate superiors were against him. Sometimes the oddballs/innovators (like Stirling) are the most brilliant among us! These early SAS men dared everything knowing they would be shot if captured because of the commando order from Hitler, yet they went anyway on essentially suicidal missions. Their stories are incredible. This is a great read given it’s an official history!

The charismatic, unforgettable cast includes the first American paratrooper to touch down on Normandy soil; the glider pilot who braved antiaircraft fire to crash-land mere yards from the vital Pegasus Bridge; the brothers who led their troops onto Juno Beach under withering fire; as well as a French commando, returning to his native land, who fought to destroy German strongholds on Sword Beach and beyond.

You know you really made someone raging mad—when they try to kill you with a nuke. Michael and those who follow him had reached a temporary safe base, but now those in power know his identity. His people are in a race against time, and it's no longer a question of if they are going to be discovered—but when.
