Historia
The 'Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club' was the tongue-in-cheek nickname of the US Seventh Fleet that was stationed off the coast of Vietnam and this book tells the full story of the US Naval air campaign in the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1975.

Full of information
Revisado: 04-24-23
This is a really good listen. Packed full of information about Naval Aviation in Vietnam. The only thing I didn't like is the way the narrator handled certain acronyms. Like RIO, would be said "Ree-Oh" in conversation but the narrator would spell it out each time. Otherwise it was really good.

Historia
Thunderbolt is the incredible true life story of Robert S. Johnson, one of America’s leading fighter pilot aces in World War II. His memoir is an action-packed account of how a young man from Lawton, Oklahoma went on to amass 28 enemy kills, the first US Army Air Force pilot in the European theater to surpass Eddie Rickenbacker's World War I tally of 26 enemy planes destroyed.

Revisado: 02-22-22
The story was excellent but I had a difficult time with the narrator. For me he sounded best at x1.10 speed. I actually think I would have enjoyed it more if I had actually read it.

Historia
Throughout history, humans have been driven by the quest for two cherished ideals: community and freedom. The two don’t coexist easily. We value individuality and self-reliance, yet are utterly dependent on community for our most basic needs. In this intricately crafted and thought-provoking book, Sebastian Junger examines the tension that lies at the heart of what it means to be human.

Story of the walk is best parts...
Revisado: 06-13-21
I enjoyed the story of the walk he did along the rails...these parts captivated me and was adventurous, but I didn't enjoy the way the story broke off talking about historical topics. I think it could have been better if he had interviewed the people along his walk like the waitress in the diner, and shared their stories.

Another great listen on the aircraft and bomber crews of WWII. Enjoyed learning more about the B-24 instead of the B-17 which seems to get all the coverage.

Historia
In this dramatic story of World War II, Jay A. Stout describes how the US built an air force of 2.3 million men after starting with 45,000 and defeated the world's best air force. In order to defeat Germany in World War II, the Allies needed to destroy the Third Reich's industry and invade its territory, but before they could effectively do either, they had to defeat the Luftwaffe, whose state-of-the-art aircraft and experienced pilots protected German industry and would batter any attempted invasion.

Very interesting and compelling first hand accounts. The narrator did fine. I think he could have done a little better voice inflections to distinguish quotes from the narrative, but it doesn't affect the overall quality at all.
