A startling crime with dozens of victims. Appearing out of nowhere to horrify the quiet resort town of Sanibel Island, Florida, dozens of identical, ordinary-looking shoes float in on the tide and are washed up on the tropical beach—each one with a crudely severed human foot inside.

Stupid Stupid Stupid
Revisado: 06-24-20
The reader was terrible, what happened to the previous reader? The story was slow, the authors kept adding trails to nowhere just to fill pages. I fast forwarded the book just to get to the end.
Do not waste a credit.

Ended without an ending
Revisado: 06-20-19
Good beginning to a story, but it ended without an ending. All of a sudden it was over. Did I miss something or will there be another short story to complete the story. It left you hanging, I did not appreciate that.

Terrible
Revisado: 08-31-18
Female character Ande is pathetic, Listening to hour after hour of Ande saying poor me, stupid me, I can't do anything me was depressing
I thought Cop Town was bad but this book takes the cake for disjointed story lines, and weak pathetic women as main characters. It was hard to slog through listening hoping for the best. I may give up on Slaughter, maybe she is describing how she shes herself.

What would have made The Obsidian Chamber better?
Bring back Pendergast.
What could Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
To wordy, all those words saying nothing. I don't know which author wrote most of the book, but they need to take a break from writing. Boring book.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Narrator was acceptable considering the terrible, boring book he was reading.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment, and sorry I wasted a credit.
Any additional comments?
Don't chose this book, it is not at all like the previous books.

What disappointed you about Pretty Girls?
Karen Slaughter has fallen down a deep black hole.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Pretty Girls?
The middle, and end
Any additional comments?
A tale of twisted, sadistic sexual torture. I thought Cop Town was terrible but this book hits a new low. Is Slaughters true personality unfolding in her writing?
