Meandering,- boring at times. Did anyone edit this book?
Revisado: 04-21-25
This book was the equivalent of a movie that is 3 1/2 hours long when it would be great at one and a half. Four out of 10 characters did not need to exist in this book. Lots of unanswered/tangential storylines, and sufficient plot holes Original story and, solid narration though.

Historia
Cassie Andrews works in a New York City bookshop, shelving books, making coffee for customers, and living an unassuming, ordinary life. Until the day one of her favorite customers—a lonely yet charming old man—dies right in front of her. Cassie is devastated. She always loved his stories, and now she has nothing to remember him by. Nothing but the last book he was reading. But this is no ordinary book… It is the Book of Doors. Inscribed with enigmatic words and mysterious drawings, it promises Cassie that any door is every door. You just need to know how to open them.

Fun fast read
Revisado: 03-01-25
Was delighted by this. Very original concept and surprisingly sentimental in places. Let the Book of Doors transport you to a new adventure.

Historia
For the past two decades, Rocky has looked forward to her family’s yearly escape to Cape Cod. Their humble beach-town rental has been the site of sweet memories, sunny days, great meals, and messes of all kinds. This year’s vacation, with Rocky sandwiched between her half-grown kids and fully aging parents, promises to be just as delightful as summers past—except, perhaps, for Rocky’s hormonal bouts of rage and melancholy. Her body is changing—her life is, too. And then a chain of events sends Rocky into the past, reliving both the tenderness and sorrow of a handful of long-ago summers.

Wanted to like but overly annoying characters
Revisado: 09-11-24
Took a long time for this to get off the ground. Funny at times with a realistic look at menopause but very little attention paid to that topic. This book is mostly about grief and remorse. For childless women readers it verges on repetitive and boring even if you have an empathetic ear. Protagonist spends several pages doting on her children to an annoying level and.overly privileged vantage point makes it hard for readers to relate to this perfect life.

Historia
New York, 1997. As the city’s gritty edges are being smoothed into something safer and shinier, two girls meet at a music magazine. Rose—brash and self-possessed—is a staff writer. Charlotte—hesitant, bookish—is an editor. First wary, then slowly admiring, they recognize in each other an insatiable and previously unmatched ambition. Soon they’re inseparable, falling into the kind of friendship that makes you better, makes every day an adventure, and makes you believe that you will be extraordinary.

Good snapshot of a time and place

Really thought I would like this more but characters ran a little flat and two dimensional. I will say that her writing kept
me listening.

Some hard core navel gazing
Revisado: 10-14-21
If you love books about rich white families with perfect lives who live in their own bubble (literally an island) and have no real troubles until TRAGEDY STRIKES than you might like this book. Or maybe not since it took 5 hours (chapter ten) for something of import to actually happen to any of these characters. You know something is going to happen to disrupt them but the exposition did not need to be so tedious-literally nothing happens. The characters had zero depth and even when TRAGEDY STRIKES they proved to be predictable. It's almost like Hannah was being paid a la Dickens per word count.
