At first competitors, Ruth soon recognizes they share a passion for the skies and for supporting trailblazing female pilots everywhere. Ok. Not my favorite
Revisado: 04-27-25
Not my favorite, but not bad for a story. I learned a bit about this historical character, but not enough to make me want to learn more. Just ok.

Historia
A mythic figure in fighting and a legendary member of the “first family of martial arts,” Rickson Gracie is considered the godfather of what we recognize today as Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Although Rickson’s three decades of total dominance in Jiu Jitsu is astounding, even more astounding is the serenity and spiritual depth of his approach to combat. For Rickson, Jiu Jitsu is a metaphor for life. Some consider Jiu Jitsu a martial art, others consider it a sport, but to Gracie, it is a philosophical system he uses to face and evaluate life’s challenges and maintain happiness and mental balance.

Good read
Revisado: 04-08-25
If you read “breathe” you will find a lot of repetitive information. It makes sense why it’s been told again, because one might not have read the other book, but since I did, I found it slightly disappointing. The narrator is not my favorite. Very robotic, no emotion shown. Rickson is a flawed man full of wisdom and honor, and jiujitsu is very well represented by him. His life brings many lessons one should take home and apply.

Historia
The world’s best teams don’t win because of leadership alone. They win because of teamship. Yet when it comes to success, it is leaders who are lauded; too little attention is given to the transformation of the team itself. We’ve all but ignored how to extract billions of dollars of shareholder value from the interdependency of talent in teams, Keith Ferrazzi argues. Upgrading teams is one of the least curated and under-leveraged opportunities for success. It is time to focus on teamship.

Great leadership point of view
Revisado: 03-02-25
Leading a team through this point of view seems not only more effective and pleasant, but rewarding for both leaders and team members as it allows growth and chosen commitment from all involved. It allows a choice to grow and invest rather than force people into a behavior.

Easy “read”. Great performance and very informative. I didn’t know about this women’s gang and it was portrayed in a very human way. Same applies to the female police force description. I recommend it.

Very fact driven
Revisado: 02-10-24
I was expecting a more soulful biography, along the lines of Greenlights. Not at all. This is a very fact driven book, which reminded me of school history books. Not much emotion out into it. I didn’t not know much about Keith and finished the book not feeling as if I had learned much about him as a person as I wish I would’ve. I wonder because he is such a private person the book was a bit “cold”. I sure was left with a list of songs to look for and I now admire his marriage with Nicole Kidman.
Overall, ok. Not my best read.
