Historia
Drawing on their own cross cultural experience in global mission, O'Brien and Richards show how better self-awareness and understanding of cultural differences in language, time, and social mores allow us to see the Bible in fresh and unexpected ways. Getting beyond our own cultural assumptions is increasingly important for being Christians in our interconnected and globalized world. Learn to read Scripture as a member of the global body of Christ.

Excellent! I highly recommend!
Revisado: 11-09-21
We make so many assumptions and are disposed towards narrow viewpoints. I know we need a more critical reading and understanding of the Bible.
This book addresses the importance of careful reading and study, as well as providing suggested steps and encouragement to pursue the truth in the Bible as it was originally authored.
I can't forget to mention the narrator... great rhythm and performance for this topic.

Historia
Multiple races carefully navigate the City of Elantra under the Dragon Emperor’s wing. His Imperial Wolves are executioners, the smallest group to serve in the Halls of Law. The populace calls them assassins. Every wolf candidate must consent to a full examination by the Tha’alani, one of the most feared and distrusted races in Elantra for their ability to read minds. Most candidates don’t finish their job interviews.

Almost liked it, but...
Revisado: 06-10-21
The narrator is very good except, her voice variation for the characters was not different enough to keep track of conversations. I had to listen to the first few chapters again to figure things out.
I've not read a Sagara book before, but could tell she is a talented author. I just felt the story was flat. I found it intelligent and it developed character relationships well, but it seemed to promise action that never came, and the solution to the mystery was disappointing (to me).
Maybe it would be different if I had background from her other books.
I did give an extra star for Overall because Sagara was mature enough to exclude profanity and inappropriate content. I will give her other books a try.

Slow... Erroneous... Sorry I wasted my time.
Revisado: 03-25-19
I wanted to like it, and stuck with it through almost 15 hours. Wish I had quit sooner. I kept thinking it had to be getting to the end, but it kept dragging on. Story line became predictable. Towards the end, there was more and more narrative about "historical" Templar and Christian information portrayed as fact, but the information is so messed up and erroneous that it is almost criminal.
I was very disappointed. Save your credit for something else.

Loved Potter series... This disappoints.
Revisado: 01-09-19
The author is so good and I looked forward to a new well written story, but the constant use of F-bombs made me quit. If that doesn't bother you, then you may like the book. If multiple F-bombs in any given conversation would bother you, skip this book.

Renshaw can write! His words paint such a vivid picture that I'm transported, and his story is a reward for the trip taken. I can't wait for book #2.

Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Plot twist?
Revisado: 07-17-18
Halfway through the book the storyline made such a dramatic sjift, that a lot of the foundation and plot in the first half was abandoned... There was a lot of potential and even some momentum going, and then ... big shift.
I like plot twists. This was not a plot twist.
The second half isn't a bad story, but it is a different story. Disappointing.
Maybe the initial story line will be picked up in a later book, but it is too late for me.

Had to turn it off...
Revisado: 09-14-17
Story appears to be okay...
The problem was that the narrator kept over dramatizing the various characters' voices making it SO annoying that I either had to slap someone or turn it off.
I think I chose wisely.

Historia
When a spaceship landed in an open field in the quiet mill town of Sorrow Falls, Massachusetts, everyone realized humankind was not alone in the universe. With that realization everyone freaked out for a little while. Or almost everyone. The residents of Sorrow Falls took the news pretty well. This could have been due to a certain local quality of unflappability, or it could have been that in three years the ship did exactly nothing other than sit quietly in that field, and nobody understood the full extent of this nothing the ship was doing better than the people who lived right next door.

Really?!?
Revisado: 09-14-17
Good narration. Mostly a good story, but...
***Spoiler alert*** At some point the author included zombie-like characters. I personally hate zombie stories, so it ruined it for me. Others may love it for their inclusion. The story was well developed and zombie alternatives would have made it great.
It was still good enough for me to finish the book. That says a lot for the narrator and remainder of the story.
