Historia
When DI Rowan Jackman and DS Evans are told that the IT boss has disappeared, they soon suspect foul play. Orla Cracken, known as Orac, is no ordinary techie; she was once a field agent traveling abroad undercover, working for the government. Meanwhile DC Robbie Melton discovers that two people, both urban explorers, have mysteriously disappeared whilst out exploring abandoned buildings. One went missing at a disused airfield, but was it a military base, or was it civilian?

Excellent!
Revisado: 06-01-22
Probably the best Joy Ellis I've read so far! The plot is as exciting and complicated as required to keep you wanting to listen more, yet easy and gradual enough that you don't get confused! Characters we already know are beautifully developed too.

Intriguing and unexpected
Revisado: 11-23-21
I enjoyed this unusual story very much. It was, perhaps, a little slow to hook me in, but that was probably because i found it less predictable than most books. When the hero told us he’d solved the mystery, I had no idea what was going to happen!
I hope that this is going to be the guest of a series. My only complaint was that this was too short. Make the next one (which I hope you’ll write, Andrew Klavan) LONGER!!

But her happiness is shattered when she wakes in her neighbour Lee Jacobs' bed, with no memory of how she got there or what happened between them. And worse - he has been stabbed to death. Convinced she didn't kill Lee, Tara flees home and stays silent, holding her breath as the investigation grips the neighbourhood.

Irritatingly repetitive
Revisado: 11-20-18
I found the story extremely unbelievable (which is not at all my usual response to a book) and very repetitive. I was glad to have struggled on to hear the finish, however, as the ending surprised me and was the book's only redeeming feature.

Historia
A coming-of-age tale for the young and naïve 17-year-old Catherine Morland, Northanger Abbey takes a decidedly comical look at themes of class, family, love and literature. Revelling in the sensationalist - and extremely popular - Gothic fiction of her day, the story follows Catherine out of Bath to the lofty manor of the Tilneys, where her overactive imagination gets to work constructing an absurd and melodramatic explanation for the death of Mrs Tilney, which threatens to jeopardise her newly forged friendships.

A delightful rendition
Revisado: 08-07-17
With Emma Thompson as the narrator, this is indeed a very fine standard of performance.
My only preference would be for an unabridged version, but of course that cannot be done whenever a book has been transformed essentially into a play.

Historia
Two dead bodies changed the course of my life that fall. One of them I knew and the other I'd never laid eyes on until I saw him in the morgue. The first was a local PI of suspect reputation. He'd been gunned down near the beach at Santa Teresa. It looked like a robbery gone bad. The other was on the beach six weeks later. He'd been sleeping rough. Probably homeless. No identification. A slip of paper with Millhone's name and number was in his pants pocket. The coroner asked her to come to the morgue to see if she could ID him.

One of the best
Revisado: 01-26-17
Sue Grafton started this series back in 1982, yet I think her later books are better than the earlier ones. This story cleverly combines two storylines in a very plausible manner without being too confusing! Any Kinsey Milhone fan will certainly be delighted.

Satisfyingly detailed and intriguing
Revisado: 12-30-15
I enjoyed Defending Jacob very much. I first listened to this book three years ago, and had managed to forget enough key details to be still captivated the second time around. (This is not intended as any criticism of the author or story line. Forgetting books is a skill I encourage in myself!)
Beautifully narrated, there are plenty of plot twists as well as clues, so all preferred styles should be catered for.
Particularly recommended for anyone who enjoys a good court room drama.
