Historia
On November 6, 1860, Abraham Lincoln became the fluky victor in a tight race for president. The country was bitterly at odds; Southern extremists were moving ever closer to destroying the Union, with one state after another seceding and Lincoln powerless to stop them. Slavery fueled the conflict, but somehow the passions of North and South came to focus on a lonely federal fortress in Charleston Harbor: Fort Sumter.

Fascinating & Well-Written

Phenomenal account of the events, day-by-day, that lead up to the first shots of the Civil War. Super interesting and detailed accounts, information and stories that made this book hard to put down, especially by the end!

Historia
It was the most remarkable political about-face in American history. During the Civil War, General James Longstreet fought tenaciously for the Confederacy. He was alongside Lee at Gettysburg (and counseled him not to order the ill-fated attacks on entrenched Union forces there). He won a major Confederate victory at Chickamauga and was seriously wounded during a later battle.

Longstreet - Fascinating Insight
Revisado: 05-02-24
Really enjoys this biographical examination of James Longstreet by Elizabeth Varon. She details Longstreet’s early life, his rise in the Confederate ranks to his realization for abolitionist and pro-inclusionary policies and movements.
Super interesting read and would highly recommend!

But Fedu’s beautiful realm is a lie. Koffi and many other darajas are trapped there by a deadly, inscrutable mist, making escape impossible. But something within the mist calls to Koffi, igniting her magic. It soon becomes clear that the very thing imprisoning her could be the key to not only her freedom, but unlocking the remaining mysteries of her own magic.

Tremendous Continuation
Revisado: 04-19-24
Ayanna Gray does it again with a neat story through both the continuation and extension of Beasts of Prey (Book #1). The creatures, beasts and characters in this story really stand out and made the scenes come to life! A wonderful read!

Fascinating Insight into Subterfuge & Secret Warfare
Revisado: 03-25-24
It is evident within the first handful of chapters in this book that author John Lisle researched this piece with exquisite and exhaustive detail!
I’m so impressed with all of the information I gleaned from reading this historical detail of the U.S’s development of the OSS and how it impacted future decisions and organizations within the US Government!
This is a must-read for those interested in getting a behind-the-scenes view into the unseen decisions when at war and combatting an enemy.

Historia
There’s no such thing as magic in the broken city of Lkossa, especially for sixteen-year-old Koffi, who indentured to the notorious Night Zoo, knows the fearsome creatures in her care and paying off her family's debts to secure their eventual freedom can be her only focus. But the night those she loves are gravely threatened by the Zoo’s cruel master, Koffi unleashes a power she doesn’t fully understand, upending her life completely.

Awesome Voice Performances
Revisado: 02-13-24
I really enjoyed the use of three different narrators to enrich the story of each of the characters; Kofi, Elon & Adiah.
I would’ve liked more discussion and flushing out of the Night Zoo and learned even more about it than what was offered in the story. All in all, a wonderful listen & read for me! Would highly recommend!
