Great if all you care about is military manovering
Revisado: 08-10-18
So this was not bad, but really not what I was looking for in a lecture on the American Revolution. It needs a different title. Its about 70% descriptions of battles, 25% useless drama between individual people, and maybe 5% of politics, economics, philosophy, and causes of the revolution (The part I was interested it; you know, the important part). If sometime in the near future I have to lead a badly equipped militia into battle, I might be able to use some of the knowledge I gained from this, but otherwise I gained very little from listening to this. If you are into military history and interpersonal drama, then you will probably like this. Otherwise "Before 1776: Life in the American Colonies" is better. Even though there are only a few lectures leading up to the revolution at the end, you will get much more information in those few than this whole series.

Historia
The Island of Doctor Moreau is part science-fiction and part horror. However, it is much more than that. The novel also raises questions about the ethical limits of scientific experiments, playing God, and the distinction between humans and animals. Shipwreck survivor, Edward Prendick is rescued and dropped off at a remote Pacific Island, where a disgraced British biologist has fled to continue his experimental work on human-animal hybrids.

Background noises distracting
Revisado: 05-26-14
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I would remove the background noises/music. They are too loud and not done well. I returned the book to get a different narration

Great book, average narration
Revisado: 05-21-14
What other book might you compare Journey to the Center of the Earth to and why?
It is similar in style, subject, and plot to the Mysterious Island and the Lost World, likely because they are from the same time period.
Any additional comments?
The narrator gets a bit too dramatic sounding when there isn't really a reason to. It seems like he wanted to make the science references less dry, but it sounded out place to me. Otherwise, I liked his narration.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
yes
Would you be willing to try another one of Alan Munro’s performances?
no, he has a strange halting speech that is distracting. I was actually seriously considering if it was narrated by some advanced computer program stitching together reused pieces of voice recording.
