Historia
More than two centuries after World War III poisoned the planet, the final bastion of humanity lives on massive airships circling the globe in search of a habitable area to call home. Aging and outdated, most of the ships plummeted back to Earth long ago. The only thing keeping the two surviving lifeboats in the sky are Hell Divers - men and women who risk their lives by skydiving to the surface to scavenge for parts the ships desperately need.

Action and More Action and Gore
Revisado: 04-28-25
I am not squeamish at all when it comes to the fun action stories with lots of gore and mayhem. I know also that I am probably not your your typical listener/reader of this genre, but I really do enjoy the thriller/action books.
But this was way over the top with unrelenting tension and practically no relief of a quiet moment. It went from one peril to the next without a pause. Exhausting and not fun.
Also, we get it---the body explodes and all the intestines come pouring out and the brains are splattered and the limbs are ripped off and mangled and everything. I think I got the point many times.
The only real saving grace was R. C. Bray's excellent narration.

Eva Kavinsky wakes in a dark cellar, with no memory of how she got here. Imprisoned with her, seemingly at random, are four men. The only way out is the trapdoor in the ceiling – and it's locked. The single clue about what brings them all here is a cryptic message sprayed onto one wall. Connect the dots. Repent. A camera fixed high above reach is livestreaming this whole nightmare to the world. What confessions are they meant to make to their unseen audience?

Almost Jumped The Shark
Revisado: 04-07-25
Too many ridiculous plot devices and unexplainable characters' actions to mention.
I shake my head as the plot is revealed and the situation devolves into nonsense.
I really tried suspension of disbelief, because so many enjoyed this, but it was overwhelmingly far from any reality.
And then to have the police explain the whole entire plot after it already had been revealed to us. Talk about not trusting the reader!
And don't get me started on the ending.
Well, maybe it did jump the shark.

When Xishi draws the attention of the famous young military advisor, Fanli, he presents her with a rare opportunity: to use her beauty as a weapon. One that could topple the rival neighboring kingdom of Wu, improve the lives of her people, and avenge her sister’s murder. All she has to do is infiltrate the enemy palace as a spy, seduce their immoral king, and weaken them from within.

BRILLIANT!
Revisado: 03-31-25
I simply adored everything about this fascinating novel. The wonderful characters, the exciting plot and especially the romance.
Written so beautifully, I was enthralled every minute.
And the narrator, Natalie Naurus, is so perfect.
I would give this 10 stars!

Thrilling Fun
Revisado: 03-05-25
Totally engaging and a wild thrilling ride. Loved how the author made so much of the story believable by having reasons and explanations for many of the character's actions and thoughts.
I loved the twists and turns as the plot evolved.
Loved Lauryn Allman's narration as she was able to beautifully distinguish between the two main characters of Nina and Millie.
Such an enjoyable book, but I'm not sure of continuing the series because so often the sequel is not as good as the original. But we will see.
Anyway, this was very fun.

Excellent Sequel
Revisado: 02-12-25
I loved the first book and now the second. What's not to love about Edoardo Ballerini's silky masculine (in a good way) voice? He could read, I don't know, the Webster's dictionary or something and I'd be enthralled.
I loved the wonderful and exciting plot and especially the way the author weaves the first book's plot seamlessly into the sequel.
Excellent use of the first person POV of the main character. And the supporting characters were so well defined as well as the love interest. Which, by the way, I am looking forward to more of that in the third book.
So please, Mr. Swartwood, hurry up and write the third book!

He’s got a seaplane business, a well-trained dog, and a loyal and lovable crew to throw back margaritas with. But when a plane belonging to a friend goes missing from Luke’s airport, local detectives are understandably baffled. Clues are scattered from the Keys to the far side of the Gulf of Mexico, and Luke may be the only one with the connections to piece the puzzle back together.

Not For Me
Revisado: 01-12-25
I love good action thrillers, but this was totally formula (gorgeous, smart, hot women and the handsome hot men who lust after them as well as run around doing macho things) and tailor made for guys.
Sorry, not for me.

Historia
Joanna Eberhart is a creative, self-possessed wife and mother, newly arrived in seemingly idyllic Stepford, Connecticut. But as she and her family begin settling in, she’s jarred by the unaccountable sameness of the local wives: all flawlessly attractive, with perfectly maintained homes—and little seeming interest in anything else. As curiosity turns to concern, Joanna finds herself unraveling a web of malice that threatens her very existence.

A Classic
Revisado: 01-01-25
A little over-the-top message, but definitely a worthwhile one.
Interesting to hear the differences between the book and the film. I loved the movie and it made such a huge impact that the term Stepford Wives is in the social and cultural lexicon.
The narration was average with some of the characters' not recognizable.
But overall, very enjoyable.

Could Not Finish
Revisado: 01-01-25
I realize I am in the minority here with this book. So many five star reviews, I started to question myself. Should I go back and finish listening?
I just couldn't.
I cringed every time the narrator for Cherry came on, I just couldn't listen to that voice anymore.
What else? The totally unlikeable characters. Everyone was whiny, self-absorbed and uninteresting. Especially Cherry.
I hope I didn't miss some spectacular ending. I have a feeling I didn't.

Cher: The Memoir, Part One promises to be an engaging and exciting audiobook experience, befitting this incredible book. Read in part by Cher herself, the book is introduced, and each chapter launched, by the author. Rounding out each chapter as she continues the narrative is celebrated stage actor Stephanie J. Block. Stephanie starred on Broadway in The Cher Show for which she won a Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, and Outer Critics Circle Award.

VERY ENJOYABLE
Revisado: 12-27-24
I really enjoyed this wonderful insight into Cher, who I admired for years. I always will remember wanting to wear the gorgeous bell bottoms she wore and I always wanted to look like her.
I've loved her singing and especially her acting in a number of films that hopefully she will cover in part two.
The only thing that I found a little disconcerting was the changing narrator.
But overall, an excellent behind the scenes of a terrific performer.
