Historia
On vacation from London on the beautiful Italian coast, 28-year-old Elena Standish and her older sister Margot have finally been able to forget some of the lasting trauma of the Great War. Touring with her camera in hand, Elena has found new inspiration in the striking Italian landscape, and she's met an equally striking man named Ian. Not ready to part from one another, she and Ian share a train trip home to England. But a shocking murder disrupts their agenda, forcing Elena to personally deliver a message to Berlin that could change the fate of Europe.

Very disappointed
Revisado: 11-21-23
Extremely slow, told a story well known about Germany and abuses before war . Standish rescued by others, except the one circumstance where she escapes the person that could have rescued her safely
Conclusion disappointing with author trying to encourage reader to follow with sequels. Would not recommend book

Interesting and terrible time to be alive
Revisado: 03-28-23
Bought and read books as I listen to stories, which were remarkably easy to follow. The description of the political and religious actions, the environment in which people endured, although in a fictional book, was based on historic activities. Hard to imagine existing at time.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Octopus as intelligent participating character
Revisado: 03-28-23
Involving octopus as character in the story was very revealing of some of the real unique aspects of this remarkably bright character. However, storyline was predictable and characters were slow in achieving answers. Why not more investigation by characters into the mother?
