Historia
By 1943, the war was lost, and most German officers knew it. What kept the German army going in an increasingly hopeless situation? Where some historians have found explanations in the power of Hitler or the role of ideology, Robert M. Citino, the world's leading scholar on the subject, posits a more straightforward solution: Bewegungskrieg, the way of war cultivated by the Germans over the course of history. In this book, Citino charts the path by which Bewegungskrieg, or a "war of movement," inexorably led to Nazi Germany's defeat.

Entertaining and informative
Revisado: 11-15-24
Just finished this audiobook by Robert Citino. Almost 26 hours, but it wizzed by. Some people who listened didn’t like the accents that were used to show the nationality of the person being quoted, but I thought they were helpful in keeping it all straight. I really enjoyed it, and learned a lot about campaigns I knew very little about, especially on the Eastern front. I would highly recommend it.

Historia
The American public's introduction to nuclear technology was manifested in destruction and death. With Hiroshima and the Cold War still ringing in our ears, our perception of all things nuclear is seen through the lens of weapons development. Nuclear power is full of mind-bending theories, deep secrets, and the misdirection of public consciousness - some deliberate, some accidental. The result of this fixation on bombs and fallout is that the development of a non-polluting, renewable energy source stands frozen in time.

Interesting and fun exploration of many things nuclear
Revisado: 09-20-24
The book is a fun read. The author has a very good sense of humor. I found the history of the different areas fascinating. I fish often in lakes next to Oak Ridge and around the Georgia Nuclear Aircraft Laboratory in the Etowah and Amicalola rivers, so hearing more of their history was illuminating. The narrator did an excellent job.

Historia
At the local state university, two feuding departments have faced off on the battleground of science and medicine. Each carries their views to extremes that may seem absurd, but highly educated people of sound mind and good intentions can reasonably disagree, right? Then a renowned and confrontational scholar winds up dead, and Virgil Flowers is brought in to investigate...and as he probes the recent ideological unrest, he soon comes to realize he's dealing with people who, on this one particular issue, are functionally crazy.

Historia
Nearly every aspect of our criminal justice system encourages defendants-whether innocent or guilty-to take a plea deal. Punishment Without Trial showcases how plea bargaining has undermined justice at every turn and across socioeconomic and racial divides. It forces the hand of lawyers, judges, and defendants, turning our legal system into a ruthlessly efficient mass incarceration machine that is dogging our jails and punishing citizens.

Historia
From the hero whistleblower of the infamous Theranos scam, Thicker than Water is a look at never-before-revealed details behind closed doors at the company, revealing a cautionary tale of corporate bullying, gaslighting, ego, and wealth running amok in Silicon Valley. Tyler Shultz had been in the workforce for less than a year when he emailed Elizabeth Holmes, his employer and the CEO and founder of Theranos, with concerns that the company’s lab practices were faulty, ignored quality control, and were potentially dangerous to patients.

Interesting look at the inside of the Theranos debacle and our legal system
Revisado: 11-13-21
I think Mr. Shultz does a good job telling his story within the Theranos debacle. The famous family dynamic, the weight the well to do can bring to bear on the lessers in society using the legal system to get what they want, and the emotional toll were all very well laid out. Obviously not a professional narrator, but he and the production crew did a very good job telling the story with an easy to listen to conversational tone.
