An outstanding Thriller and Spellbinding Novel
Revisado: 09-26-21
Ben Coes is an outstanding mystery writer That provides either the reader or audio listener with an outstanding an narration. The story raises a fear of some that Jihadists present a risk of anther attack on our homeland. I have enjoyed the development of the character of Dewey Andreas from the consummate warrior to a complex thinker defender doing his duty. In the last analysis, recognizing that you defend our country by wiping out its enemies.I can’t wait for BenCoes’ next book. What a creative mind.

Historia
From July 10, 1943, the date of the Allied landing in Sicily, to May 8, 1945, when victory in Europe was declared - the entire time it took to liberate Europe - no regiment saw more action, and no single platoon, company, or battalion endured worse, than the ones commanded by Felix Sparks, who had entered the war as a greenhorn second lieutenant of the 157th "Eager for Duty" Infantry Regiment of the 45th "Thunderbird" Division. Sparks and his fellow Thunderbirds fought longest and hardest to defeat Hitler.

Biography of a true American Hero
Revisado: 09-12-21
A beautifully written and researched biography of a citizen soldier and inspirational leader Lt. Col. Felix Sparks led the 157th Infantry Regiment in liberating the Dachau concentration camp and its gas chambers and crematoriums. The book tracks 157th Infantry Regiment through its distinguished performance in major battles in Sicily, Anzio, Italy, France, Belgium and Germany. The loss of life in multiple battles and the ineptitude of senior generals including the narcissist and incompetent Gen. Mark Clark in Italy, whose command cost the life of thousands of GIs.
What Lt. Col. Sparks observed with his own eyes at the liberation of Dachau allowed him to challenge Holocaust deniers at every opportunity. The book vividly describes the human carnage of war and its lifelong effects of war on its participants as our citizens soldiers discharged their duty without the glorification of war. Sparks advocacy of Native Americans and Mexican Americans who comprised a significant part of the 157th Infantry Regiment reflected the decency of this American hero. Sparks’s final victorious battle was against the NRA in the Colorado legislature in promoting legislation that prohibited children under 18 from owning and possessing firearms. A wonderful listen with an outstanding narrator.

Another great Michael Connelly book
Revisado: 02-06-21
Michael Connelly is a superb mystery writer in every respect. He obviously researches the subject matter and his character creation and the human pathos of his characters is so realistic. As a trial lawyer who served as both the prosecutor and defense attorney he really nails the courtroom interaction. This is an outstanding book of the many Mr. Connelly has written. The plot is intriguing and I couldn’t take my earphones off till I was done.

Another Michael Connelly Outstanding book
Revisado: 12-21-20
Conley writes with imagination and personal research and w hich creates an interesting read or listen Which creates intrigue which makes the story more realistic. He pushes the edges of credulity but doesn’t step over the line. He also weaves social issues into his stories from time to time which also Knicks the listen in my case difficult to put down.
Titus Welliver is an outstanding narrator and I am of the opinion it takes a very good actor to be a great narrator. The only time I turn back a Michael Connelly book was because of a very poor and boring narrator.

Outstanding Thriller
Revisado: 09-16-20
Ben Coes is an outstanding writer. From beginning to end this book is exciting, interesting and clearly has quite a bit of research in its preparation. It deals with Problems the United States faces in the world and what many but not all people realize, which is there are countries that wish us ill and more than that how despots reach a position of power that can if unchecked, Create a nuclear catastrophe that will destroy earth. The other point is that there are times when in protecting the people of the United States, we need to allow for the CIA to uses practices that our Constitution prohibits to be utilized in the United States. When you deal with animals and miscreants sometimes you must use their same tactics. Wonderful book.

Tom Clancy revisited
Revisado: 07-18-20
I first read this book when it was released in the late 80s. I bought the Audible edition of the book several years ago and listen to it. In revisiting the book again as I do from time to time with other publications that I have acquired through Audible, I appreciated the incredible talent of the way Tom Clancy as a wordsmith, as a creative author and the ability to keep his audience spellbound. Patriot Games is one of my all-time favorite books. The craftsmanship that went into all of Clancy‘s novels is amazing and sadly he passed away way too soon. The meticulous storytelling, character development and suspense intentionally prevented from mass producing his novels and sadly deprived his devoted readers of developing a larger library of great thrillers.

Revisado: 04-14-20
The late Vince Flynn Was an outstanding writer of action novels that contained contemporary political and international Intrigue that never seem to change. He developed characters well and did significant research into the religious make up of Muslim extremists Who comprise a small minority of Muslims but also reflect the false narrative of their motives for killing people. I’m not sure when that will change but I am greatly saddened that Mr. Flynn past away way too early in life.

She was covered from head to toe in expensive wool and plaid, the sort of stuff one saw at the Burberry boutique in Harrods. She carried a leather bookbag rather than a nylon backpack. Her patent leather ballet slippers were glossy and bright. She was proper, the new girl, modest. But there was something else about her.... At an exclusive private school in Switzerland, mystery surrounds the identity of the beautiful raven-haired girl who arrives each morning in a motorcade fit for a head of state. She is said to be the daughter of a wealthy international businessman.

Historia
Our current climate of partisan fury is not new, and in The Soul of America Meacham shows us how what Abraham Lincoln called the “better angels of our nature” have repeatedly won the day. Painting surprising portraits of Lincoln and other presidents, including Ulysses S. Grant, Theodore Roosevelt, and LBJ, and illuminating the courage of influential citizen activists and civil rights pioneers, Meacham brings vividly to life turning points in American history. Each of these dramatic hours have been shaped by the contest to lead the country to look forward rather than back.

An outstanding book That puts history in perspective with current events
Revisado: 06-28-18
Mr. Meacham places in perspective the great leaders of this country assumed office and placed the interests of the United States first and foremost in the interests fairness and our Constitutional guarantees. A stark contrast with the current administration. His recount of ordinary men who put region and partisanship aside to address the most fundamental freedoms is inspiring. This book should be required reading and listening to in every school in this country. Donald Heller Sacramento California
