The best book

This is my favorite book! What a great story. Even though it’s getting a little dated, it’s written and read so well you don’t even notice!

Anna Vere has escaped to the Cotswolds for Christmas to try to heal from her broken engagement and, far worse, her broken dreams. When her reserved room at a bed-and-breakfast is flooded, she takes up the offer of camping out in Willoughby Close, the converted stables of the nearby manor house...and is taken under the wing of sexy local carpenter Colin Heath. What starts out as merely helping a neighbor in need turns into far more as Colin and Anna share a surprisingly intense and emotional connection, weaving their own Christmas magic as they spend the holiday together.

Short and comfortable. Sweet and predictable in a good way. I thought the narrator did a good job. I don’t know why others don’t like her? Just what I was looking for for my Christmas time commuting.

DO NOT EVEN
Revisado: 11-23-22
This is not the Artemis Fowl you know and love. The characters sound completely different, which is odd, considering it’s the same narrator. The characters personalities are completely different! It’s written poorly. The REAL Artemis Fowl is clever and smart. This is NOT. This book is very childish I cannot even get through it. I’m disappointed in Nathaniel Parker. He’s better than this.

This book is absolutely inspiring! I have recently started trying to build a personal brand and all the tips tricks and what not to do are absolutely invaluable. I have given this book to two people and read it three times through. I even bought the paper copy to highlight and take notes. I highly recommend!!!

Historia
Eveline Armstrong is fiercely loved and protected by her powerful clan, but outsiders consider her "touched." Beautiful, fey, with a level, intent gaze, she doesn't speak. No one, not even her family, knows that she cannot hear. Content with her life of seclusion, Eveline has taught herself to read lips and allows the outside world to view her as daft. But when an arranged marriage into a rival clan makes Graeme Montgomery her husband, Eveline accepts her duty -unprepared for the delights to come.

Engaging
Revisado: 10-12-14
What about Kirsten Potter’s performance did you like?
Her scottish accent was really spot on. Her variation of the voice for the characters, men, women, young, older, all very unique.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
There were enough trials, and issues to keep you interested in the plot, without being overly stressful. I wanted to know would secrets be revealed? How? by whom? What will their reactions be? How can this end with so much having changed? Its a good book! I was very happy to find out there is a whole series to listen to!

Historia
Until five years ago, Alexandra Heminsley was decidedly not a runner. Nor was she athletic in any sense of the word. She was an ordinary, curvy woman who was convinced that sports of any kind, especially running, were beyond her. But she's made running part of her life, and gets to reap the rewards: not just the obvious things, like a touch of weight loss, health and glowing skin, but self-belief, and immeasurable daily pleasure.

Wonderful!!!
Revisado: 10-12-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely! It is funny, serious, honest, and I could completely relate to her experiences. Very inspirational. She tells you that if she can do it, (and this is how she did it) anyone can too, and this is how. BUT In a wonderfully interesting way. I couldn't put it down, honestly.
What about Elizabeth Sastre’s performance did you like?
She was the PERFECT voice for the author. She was EXACTLY right. Her humor, inflection, and emotion was exactly right for the story. I was VERY impressed. It was a flawless performance.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I had all kinds of reactions to this book. I did laugh! and I did shed a few tears, of understanding and compassion. I really felt connected to the Heroine/Author/Narrator and was moved by her experience. Tears with a smile, if you know what I mean... I was also inspired, GREATLY! Great book!

TEDIOUS!
Revisado: 10-12-14
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
the story was so frustrating! and it took 18 hours to tell the story that could have been told in 6. When I got to 10 hours, I was WISHING i had not started listening, by 12 I was getting really frustrated. I only finished because it was the only book I had at the time. And to be honest I kept waiting to see if it got any better.... It DIDNT. :(
Would you ever listen to anything by Laura Kinsale again?
Not if it is ANYTHING over 10 hours.
Have you listened to any of Nicholas Boulton’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No I have not.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Frustration, confusion, sadness
Any additional comments?
I really loved the characters and their development, BUT the characters go completely against their "characters" at the end with no explanation and just ends abruptly with a "All the problems we have had for the past 18 hours of story now just don't matter were happy and it is now all sunshine and rainbows. Ta Dah!" Not cool.
