Historia
Three years ago, sports agent Myron Bolitar gave a eulogy at the funeral of his client, renowned basketball coach Greg Downing. Myron and Greg had history: initially as deeply personal rivals, and later as unexpected business associates. Myron made peace and moved on–until now, when two federal agents walked into his office, demanding to know where Greg Downing is.

Deep and delicious
Revisado: 06-21-24
Mr. Coban is beyond gifted… and he’s taken his gift to continuously higher levels. Think Twice is a tremendous tapestry of suspense and insightful character thought processes, outcomes, and emotions.

It started a little rough but quickly caught me
Revisado: 02-03-24
Need an escape? This is a fun one. It’s a fun tale… I am caught now in the lingering mystery and am finishing this review quickly so I can start book 2.
Not going to lie, I was between credits and in need of distraction. As I said in the title, I almost nixed it at the beginning, but there was just something sort of “old friend next door” about the narrator and then I was INTO the story. Must be magic.
Enjoy!

Historia
Back in 1985, Frank Mackey was a nineteen-year-old kid with a dream of escaping his family's cramped flat on Faithful Place and running away to London with his girl, Rosie Daly. But on the night they were supposed to leave, Rosie didn't show. Frank took it for granted that she'd dumped him-probably because of his alcoholic father, nutcase mother, and generally dysfunctional family. He never went home again. Neither did Rosie. Then, twenty-two years later, Rosie's suitcase shows up.

I was so wrong about Frankie…
Revisado: 07-17-23
I listened to the first two books in the series and loved them. I bought this one without even reading the summary and when it started, I thought “Oh crap, don’t let it be about Frankie, I’m not sure I like him”. But it was—and dang if it’s not my favorite so far! #givecreditwhenitsworthmore

Listen. It’s good. There’s a lot going on in this story… the bottom line for me is that you don’t see or know anyone completely unless they want you too. Keeping that in mind will make us - and the world ~ better.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

And re-readable OR… re-listenable. I’m normally a mystery/thriller type of reader—or listener. But this book just kept popping up, and I finally decided to use a credit on it.
Totally. Worth. It.
Maybe it’s my love of sea creatures, but I don’t think that’s all that made this story extraordinary to me. There is just SOMETHING about this book. It might just leave little circles on your soul. Take a chance on it, I think you’ll like it. (And you’ll also understand that circle line I just wrote.)

Historia
Charlotte Davis is in pieces. At 17 she's already lost more than most people do in a lifetime. But she's learned how to forget. The broken glass washes away the sorrow until there is nothing but calm. You don't have to think about your father and the river. Your best friend, who is gone forever. Or your mother, who has nothing left to give you. Every new scar hardens Charlie's heart just a little more, yet it still hurts so much. It hurts enough to not care anymore, which is sometimes what has to happen before you can find your way back from the edge.

Peretsky is a genius. And a hero in her own right.
Revisado: 08-07-22
Ms. Peretsky is one of my political heroes. Weaving the gritty and ugly truths of our world —no matter the decade — and giving us an imperfect heroine in V.I. Peretsky’s PI isn’t delusional enough to think she can fix all the wrongs, but neither does she turn a blind eye to the wrongs she MIGHT be able to expose, correct or eliminate.
Overboard is a tricky and wild ride. V.I. In all of her audacious and crafty glory. Don’t miss it.
