Obsessed!!
I absolutely love Madeleine’s writing style and her way of telling a story. In this witchy retelling of Red Riding Hood, we get all the steam and banter of a fantastic slow burn romantasy novel. The world building and magic system had me hooked, what’s not to love about witches and demons! I loved getting to meet Elara and the mysterious hunter on the journey to the Demon King. They had me swooning! The animal sidekicks we such a fun part of the book! And can we talk about the big reveal! It was intertwined beautifully into the novel without being too predictive or over the top. I loved it!
Oh gosh that cliffhanger! I cannot wait for the sequel!
Rylee Kuberra was a fantastic narrator and fit the story so well! I loved how she brought the world and characters to life!

Think The Lunar Chronicles with spice!
I loved it! As soon as I finished, I messaged my friend to read it. I loved Ember and Hadrian, their banter was great! Seeing Ember grow as a character into someone that believed in herself and watching her get stronger was heartwarming. Hadrian was swoon-worthy, he is a morally gray character that you cannot help but fall in love with. His father…ugh! Throughout the novel we see who he is and watch as he steps out of the shadows. Every side character was so well-written that you couldn't help fall in love with some and absolutely abhor others. Madeleine was able to perfectly intertwine the storyline and create such a beautiful story with lots of depth for each characters. Although I kind of guessed part of the big reveal, I will say I was shocked about other parts!! The build up she created was fantastic and the world building flowed seamlessly which made it easy to follow alongside the magical aspects. I cannot wait to start book 2 which follows Aurelia and Aspen after the events of book 1!
Alexa Borys did an excellent job with the audiobook! She brought the characters to life and made the story flow so effortlessly!
