Historia
Spanning the years 1900 to 1977, The Covenant of Water is set in Kerala, on South India’s Malabar Coast, and follows three generations of a family that suffers a peculiar affliction: in every generation, at least one person dies by drowning—and in Kerala, water is everywhere. At the turn of the century, a twelve-year-old girl from Kerala’s long-existing Christian community, grieving the death of her father, is sent by boat to her wedding, where she will meet her forty-year-old husband for the first time.

Total Clichè
Revisado: 01-14-24
I kept waiting for this story to take an unexpected twist- it didn’t. The entire story was totally predictable and the characters didn’t have any depth whatsoever. The sex scenes made me cringe and Knox’s character was a total oaf, I kept finding myself wanting to slap him. The leading character Naomi is painted as a typical needy woman in need of rescuing and the oaf saves the day. Waste of time.

Captivating - Spoiler Alert
Revisado: 07-01-23
It was great to finally get an understanding of who Pa Salt was, a remarkable character that I grew to respect and admire as though he was a real person. I really take my hat off to Lucinda’s son Harry for completing her masterpiece ins such an impeccable way. The narration was great and as always with this series, there was so much to learn. The only thing I felt was a little unbelievable at times was the portrayal of Kreeg. I find it difficult to believe a person would have the ability to track and haunt someone across the globe and that Atlas never suspected him of taking Elle. On that note, I also find it implausible that Kreeg would have been able to force Elle to marry him.

Enjoyable
Revisado: 04-02-23
I really enjoyed the story, it was well researched and thought provoking. The narration of Olivia’s character was very fast so I had to turn the speed down and at times the story had quite a bit of repetition. I still really enjoyed it though, definitely worth a listen.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Interesting and sad
Revisado: 01-27-23
Reading this has given me far greater insight into the merciless greed and moral corruption of the UK Press and paparazzi. It has been refreshing to listen to the other side of the story for a change and sad to get a glimpse of the huge control and influence that is held over the royal family. It all seems so glamorous from the outside looking in, but listening to this I’m grateful for my “normal” life. I sincerely hope the Sussex’s find the peace and happiness they have fought so hard and bravely for.

Very drawn out
Revisado: 02-02-22
This story didn’t grip me as much as the ones before it and it had rather a lot of irrelevant detail. I felt frustrated throughout the book by the lack of development in the story which was exacerbated by the abrupt ending. Some of the accents were not very authentic but the narration was very good other than that. I’m looking forward to Atlas and hope that we get a proper conclusion that does justice to the series, this one seemed like more of a “filler” to me.

Still not sure what the covers of these books has to do with the actual stories. The narration was a bit flat and hard to listen to at times but the overall story was great and as usual, it came together beautifully at the end.

Couldn’t stop listening
Revisado: 12-17-21
I am listening to the Seven Sisters series and this was by far the best book of the series so far. The story is absolutely fascinating and the various twists and turns kept me totally riveted. The author has clearly done so much research info Australian heritage and I learnt so much about it whilst listening to the book. The two narrators were also a pleasure to listen to, their accents were totally on point. A beautiful story which highlights and celebrates the human connection.

Historia
Emmeline lives on a remote island with her father, who teaches her about the natural world through her senses. What he won’t explain are the mysterious scents stored in glass bottles that line the walls of their cabin, or the origin of the machine that creates them. As Emmeline grows, however, so too does her curiosity, until one day the unforeseen happens, and Emmeline is vaulted out into the real world—a place of love, betrayal, ambition, and revenge. To understand her past, Emmeline must unlock the clues to her identity.

Revisado: 06-08-20
This is the most sensational book I have ever read/listened to. The author awakens the readers olfactory imagination which overlays this beautiful, multi-faceted story. I was transported to another world listening to this story, a journey that I loved from beginning to end. The book has been delightfully narrated and was a pleasure to listen to, I have already recommended it to so many people and will continue to do so.
