there was little to no story progress, it was enjoyable and luke Daniels is awsome as always but at this slow of a pace I don't know how long I'll stick with the series.

first half was great 2nd half not so much

I was really into this to the point I almost bought the sequel half way through book 1, luckily I was out of credits. about halfway through a troupe was hinted at a few times and all I could think was if they follow through with this troupe it's gonna wreck this for me. after the final fight sure enough the troupe was confirmed in the most uninspired way ever, now some people can probably live with this but for me it went over the line of just misunderstood, probably to facilitate easy drama for the author in book 2. I do have to thank the author though for making it clear what is gonna be in book 2 through the couple chapters after the last fight, making this 1 of the easier drops I've ever had. the narrator was very good.

so cringy

I made it through the whole book, I've listened to few worse. the over all concept was really good , but their was just way to much cringe writing and overuse of the same phrases. the narration was just as bad, the overuse of Chinese English accent aside the characters almost all sounded the same. I've never been good at keeping chinese names strait in my head to begin with so everyone sounding the same was frustrating at times. hard pass on book 2

really enjoyed it but 2 Dollars a hour for run time is way to much for me to continue the series. I listen during 10hr shifts at work and 1 book won't even last a shift. will return if there's ever a combined book sale.

just bad, I made it half way through book 2 and I'm pretty sure the 2 books could have been 10hrs combined, the author still can't figure out if he's writing a y7, tween, Disney or ya novel. it's so slow and convoluted.

narration was about the only good thing in this book. this is only the 2nd time on audible I've felt I wasted my money, I did manage to finish the whole thing and up til about midway through I would have put this on my "well I can't find anything else to listen to" list but it just went downhill til it hit I wasted my money

blind trust and constant betrayal only story vehic

The only story vehicle the author uses is blind trust leading to betrayal. after the 6th or 7th time you would assume the characters would grow and learn, nope lets wash and rinse again. I did finish the entire trilogy, and I'm not all that hesitant to say there was 0 character growth.

Another thing that bothered me was how the pair got more and more powerful without explanation aside from time and the magic system seemed to be 1 of the most shallow in recent memory

The one saving grace for this book was the narrator, would absolutely listen to him read a book again
