Historia
The causes of Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder range from severe neglect to monstrous abuse. Many survivors grew up in houses that were not homes-in families that were as loveless as orphanages and sometimes as dangerous. If you felt unwanted, unliked, rejected, hated, and/or despised for a lengthy portion of your childhood, trauma may be deeply engrained in your mind, soul, and body. This book is a practical guide to recovering from lingering childhood trauma. It is copiously illustrated with examples of the author's and his clients' journeys of recovering.

Overwhelmed by how much this helped
Revisado: 08-03-22
This book has helped more than any other book I've done on my journey to healing old wounds from my childhood. The author validates the listeners history and feelings while providing tools to help overcome these life long obstacles. I'm going to go back and re-listen to some other books that were helpful with these new tools at my disposal and then give this one another listen through.

Good content, poor presentation...
Revisado: 06-29-22
The narrator does not maintain a consistent volume and many words are spoken much louder and suddenly as to be painful to listen to. the book includes multiple loud guitar interludes that I found jarring and didn't add value.
The overall content and intent are great though and I did feel I learned something of value from the book.

Historia
In Dangerous Personalities, former FBI profiler Joe Navarro shows listeners how to identify the four most common "dangerous personalities", and analyze how much of a threat each one can be: the Narcissist, the Predator, the Paranoid, and the Unstable Personality. Along the way, listeners learn how to protect themselves both immediately and long-term - as well as how to recover from the trauma of being close to such a destructive force.

The real world examples in this book really helped me in seeing how to set effective and healthy boundaries in many situations. This book also keeps the Bible and spirituality topics out of it.

The most helpful book for codependents
Revisado: 04-14-22
This book may be hard to face. If you are considering it, chances are you've been facing some really hard realities and difficult choices.
Whole Again does talk about spirituality within the context of unconditional love. It avoided the religious beliefs of any Church establishment.

Historia
Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in. With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately....

Untuck this recording quality

Free almost makes up for bad audio quality
Revisado: 02-15-22
This is honestly a fantastic book. the audio was recorded without good editing, without good audio equipment. lots of fumbling sounds, dog barks and other distractions that make this hard to listen through.
that said, the content is urgently needed by many and I enjoyed the no holds barred approach to therapy.

Historia
From the moment Dara of Westwood spied the Silver Headed Raptor nesting in Rundeval Peak, the precocious redheaded 12-year-old girl was enchanted. The youngest daughter of the Master of the Wood lived in ramshackle Westwood Hall, in the independently minded Westwood estate of Sevendor. Her determination to capture a baby falcon and train it wasn’t hampered by the fact that Dara had never climbed a mountain, had never been trained in falconry, or even remotely had permission from her father to do it.

Great side character from the Spellmonger series.
Revisado: 06-22-21
This is my favorite side story from the Spellmonger series. The narrator has a distinct accent which ensures some variations in the pronunciation versus other narrators. This can be off-putting for those who have heard several stories with locations, people and diety names pronounced a particular way. The overall narration skill more than makes up for this. Her pace and tone are great. Having someone else narrate one of the stories helps it to stand apart and even shine on its own. Since this is a focus on a female character, the female narrator also helps with immersion. As the focus is a young girl, there are no crude sexual references as is common in the rest of the related series. There are plenty of humorous wits to laugh at which are far more appropriate to the main character's viewpoint. I nearly skipped this as I was further in the timeline than this story and I'm very glad I didn't.

Disappointed
Revisado: 05-13-20
The story jumps all over the place. Each main character was fairly dull and uninteresting. I really had a hard time caring what happened to any of the characters. None of that was helped by the thick accented lackluster narration. I tried to restart it several times as this author had another series I really enjoyed. Every time I listened I would have enjoyed silence far more.

They injected me with a VR chip, a GPS tracker, and my first Seed. They gave me unbelievable powers. Then they sent me to fight. The monsters here are alien and vicious. There is a second moon in the sky. I watched a tree start moving and kill someone. And the other Players…? They're even worse.

While three are some litrpg elements, they are not intrusive to the narration. Lots of time feels like it passes in these first two chapters. Tons of action and plenty of little surprises and twists to keep things interesting the whole while.
