a fun way to get my mind off a break up
Revisado: 11-19-24
i was going through alot and wanted to not think about how sad i was. i love reading but usually gravitate to romance which i couldnt stand when i was going through a breakup. this book did the trick even though there was some romance but it wasnt the focus. i loved our characters and even found myself rooting for each one even the ones who do questionable things. it was fun and i was interested in uncovering each persons secrets. was sad it ended though.

was not my favorite of Codi Hall's
Revisado: 11-19-24
I don't know what it was exactly but this was not my favorite. I found myself zoning out most of the time while listening to it and I usually love this series from this author. one thing that I particularly didn't like was the voice acting. I know they're the same voice actors that have done all the other stories from her but somehow it became a bit grating especially when the man would say things like baby and kitten. I don't know it just kind of gave me the ick every time. I wish they would do different voice actors for each of the books so that way we could have a variety for each character. it wasn't such a big deal when they would come out once a year but with multiple coming out in the same Christmas season this year variety would have been enjoyable. our main character was fine and it was nice seeing Pikes side of the story as well as he has been a character in many of the other books. overall a fine read but somehow a little less enjoyable.

overall a fun romance for winter time
Revisado: 10-22-24
I have read all of the past novels by this author and have enjoyed them. it became kind of a ritual to read them every year. I did enjoy this one however one thing that I kind of forgot about was how raunchy the sex scenes were. I don't mind a dirty sex scene but I kind of was surprised by them listening to them. I wasn't the biggest fan of the male narrator. for some reason every time he said baby it made me cringe. the story itself was super cute and I really liked our new main character. I love the plus size representation. she was spunky but not too over the top and the male lead was not too controlling. overall goodread.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

beautifully written and engaging
Revisado: 09-13-24
I absolutely loved this book. it was attention getting and it kept my attention throughout the whole book. I'd seen this book over the last couple of years and I was resistant to reading it for some reason but I'm so glad I gave it a chance. the characters felt real and flawed. I especially loved our main character. I felt sad at first but it was such an uplifting book and it really made my mood change by the end. I would highly recommend this book to any one.

her best book yet
Revisado: 07-03-24
I read all 3 of her books so far. And I have to say this is my favorite so far. The character is still a little bit annoying at some parts as most of her characters are, but this one seems a bit more realistic and grounded. She had a good personality and good energy. I also like that the story took some twists and turns and pulled out some stops that I wasn't expecting. It made me want attached at the hip to be a real show on tv. Overall really good!

They never stop fighting
Revisado: 11-11-22
This whole story was just communication issue after communication issue. They never stop jumping to conclusions and don’t share with each other. You’d think after the first time having this happen they’d learn but nope. I think it could have been good but tbh neither one of these people should be in a relationship till they get their s*** handled. They are toxic to each other and have many issues to work though.

I have exactly 5 hours and 10 minutes to get from Boston to New York City or the professional opportunity of a lifetime disappears. My only travel option? The second to last seat on a discount bus. Across from the bathroom. Wearing last night’s clothes (don’t ask). All worth it if I can make it in time.

Fun but cliché
Revisado: 04-14-22
I know. I know, it’s a simple rom com and is supposed to be cliche but I found the dialogue between the two to be a little sillier than needed. Plus they almost had like 6 car accidents and it’s comical by the last one and I don’t think that was intentional. Overall an easy listen and the actors put there best in but probably the weakest of Cara Bastone’s books I’ve listened to

Cringe dialogue
Revisado: 03-02-22
I liked Elizabeth far more than Janie. She was more interesting and less sloppy with the back story. Nico was great and fun and sexy. They narrator was awesome but I found myself rolling my eyes at some of the dialogue. Another situation where one partner is controlling the other because they don’t know how to “protect themselves” or they don’t think about their own safety. Maybe it’s a personal thing but I can’t stand how the man was controlling for the same reasons in the last book and Elizabeth is in this one. Overall better than the 1st one and worth a read if you liked it

Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

Fun and unique romance
Revisado: 11-25-21
I really was surprised how much I liked this. It felt refreshing and fun and the narrators did such a great job that I actually felt like I was listening in on these two people having a phone call together. I never got bored while listening and although cheesy in some places I found myself only mildly rolling my eyes like 2 times. Not all of the story lines, like Kal’s stuff with his dad, we’re my favorite but they never took me out of it and were so minor it was fine. Pick it up if you want an easy fun time.
