Historia
With The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors and Ship of Ghosts, James D. Hornfischer created essential and enduring narratives about America’s World War II Navy, works of unique immediacy distinguished by rich portraits of ordinary men in extremis and exclusive new information. Now he does the same for the deadliest, most pivotal naval campaign of the Pacific war: Guadalcanal. Neptune’s Inferno is at once the most epic and the most intimate account ever written of the contest for control of the seaways of the Solomon Islands.

Quite informative.

I find this book very informative. I knew little of the Guadalcanal campaign, except for the loss of Wasp and Hornet, so it has been an educating read.

Historia
In The Case for Trump, award-winning historian and political commentator Victor Davis Hanson explains how a celebrity businessman with no political or military experience triumphed over 16 well-qualified Republican rivals, a Democrat with a quarter-billion-dollar war chest, and a hostile media and Washington establishment to become president of the US—and an extremely successful president.

Less a Trump defense, more an Obama/Clinton attack
Revisado: 06-26-20
VDH is great as always, but this book doesn't exactly live up to it's name. The majority of it is spend setting the political landscape of how forty years of presidential mishandling of the economy gutted the American interior and set the stage for Trump. VDH does go into great detail on the Spygate scandal and this book is a great resource on the subject. However, he spends a single chapter on DJT's achievements. In the end, this is more an argument for voting against Clinton/Obama and less an argument to vote for DJT. I found that disappointing, as the writing is as high quality as all of VDH's works.

Solid story of President Reagan as a leader
Revisado: 08-19-19
I thought this was an excellent overview of President Reagan's life. Similar to "Crusader", it covers a lot of his pre-presidential life. I appreciated learning about President Reagan's days in college, Hollywood and working for GE. I think this book shorted some of the details of his presidency in exchange for details of his pre and post presidential years. The story of Reagan's decline with Alzheimer's disease was heartbreaking without being melodramatic. Overall a good story, but as with Patriot's History, Schweikart neglect's the greater impact of Ronald Reagan and his America upon the world beyond a few paragraph's.
