Historia
Jo told him the phone call had been about a woman who wanted to have her husband declared dead. Smith thought for a moment and then said, 'Hmm. There must be a few million women in this country who feel like that. I take it her husband's been missing for a while and she's decided it's time to move on. In the absence of a body, which is always a nuisance, she wants Diver and Diver to confirm there's no proof he's alive. And I've told Jason a dozen times I'm not getting involved in anything matrimonial. I have enough trouble sorting out my own relationships.'

Good story, but can't get past the narrator
Revisado: 06-24-23
I am trying to enjoy the story, but the narration makes it very hard. I listen for awhile, then have to go away and come back. The story is interesting with lots of good twists and turns.

I LOVE the Monkeewrench series, but I'm very glad this wasn't my first book to listen to. I enjoyed the story, but it was a struggle listening to this narrator. Please bring back Buck Schriner!!!! He IS the voice of these characters! Or at least please use a male narrator.

Ms Andrews has created a bunch of characters you enjoy reading about and would like to get to know better. The story kept me guessing and was much more than the light-hearted mystery I thought it would be.

Historia
When winter's done, but spring has not yet fully sprung, much of Alaska turns to slush. Locally, it's called "breakup," and it's a…messy time of year. It's certainly messy for Kate Shugak; between doing her taxes, being chased by grizzlies, and getting shot at by feuding families, she has to cope with an NTSB investigation that hits very close to home. Then, of course, there's the body in the woods. And up at the old mining town. And…being Kate Shugak, somehow she can't leave well enough alone, and begins to tease apart a well-planned and surprising crime.

The storyline has more humor than the previous books and I found myself laughing out loud in places. Marguerite Gavin is just wonderful as usual, bringing all Ms Stabenow's characters to life.

not sure about Marguerite
Revisado: 11-03-16
I have trouble believing it's Marguerite Gavin reading this one. She is SO amazingly talented and has performed all the others beautifully. Maybe this one was the first she recorded before she 'found' the voices of the characters? The story is wonderful and even not at her best, Marguerite is a stellar performer.

Just as good as A Dirty Job
Revisado: 09-06-15
A Dirty Job is still my favorite of all of Christopher Moore's books so I was thrilled to see he'd written another with those characters. Secondhand Souls does not disappoint. It's every bit as 'laugh out loud' funny as it's predecessor. I hope he will write a third in this series as he did with the vampires of San Francisco . . . In the meantime, I've already listened to this one twice! Loved it!
