I listen to both back to back Really good
Revisado: 02-28-24
Mr. Z well done. I am completely hooked on this series. Full disclosure i was waiting for another book to release this month and tried this. The plot seems to follow a kind of young adult coming of age scenario. Then all semblance of the typical is shattered and the story kicks in to gear. There is the flight from home and the leveling common to most in the genre, but the system is really well thought out. I love the ritual though I can’t remember the words to recite it. It is very unique and it adds to the book, not just filler like some. The characters are engaging and fragile. Not quite Game of Thrones but choose who you get attached to with care. I love that I could not predict the ending while still being able to rationalize the decisions the main character made. The narration was superb, I enjoy it when a good narrator reads ahead and adds yawns and other effects to the dialogue. That may be a low bar but this was very well done. Thank you for the experience I can’t wait for the rest of the series.

Great sequel
Revisado: 12-06-22
The narrator is absolutely perfect for this book. I love the energy. The story though tragic, is written in an upbeat manner and very enjoyable. The nom de plume makes me imagine a tiny rhinoceros jumping on the keys of a computer typing out the story.

This story has depth, character development and kissing, The author is really good at his craft. In between the quests a genuine sweet love story arises.
I can’t convey how truly amazing this story is with the space provided. You will not be disappointed.

Giving ol' R.C. a workout
Revisado: 08-01-22
Mr. Bray has voiced: A couple of Scottish me, An Australian woman, A British man, A couple of South Africans, 2 robots, a handful of various Americans to include a Texan, an erudite MIT female, an erudite Naval officer, a French Lobster (never thought that would come up in a book review), a few well named aliens, and his own voice in the postscript. And did it like he was actually several people. Each person he voiced had something unique and distinctive. Well done.
As this is a book review and not an audition for the R.C. Bray fan club, I will talk about that for a bit.
My feeble mind has trouble keeping characters straight in most books, so I do enjoy this medium much more the paper and ink type.
The Story is a bit over my head with the multi-dimensional physics, but the wit, humor and characters are extremely well written. As this is not the first of Mr. Cole's books, I have listened to it still surprises me how it is not the same generic tropes rewritten in a slightly different way. The author has a future with this writing thing.
Well done, can't wait for the next one

Historia
As part of a ruthless program by the totalitarian government, ninth-grade students are taken to a small isolated island with a map, food, and various weapons. Forced to wear special collars that explode when they break a rule, they must fight each other for three days until only one "winner" remains. The elimination contest becomes the ultimate in must-see reality television. A Japanese pulp classic available in English-language audio for the first time, Battle Royale is a potent allegory of what it means to be young and survive in today's dog-eat-dog world.

Genuine good book
Revisado: 07-07-22
Predating other similar books, this is a well written, very thoughtful. It is good satire on how people can become an inconvenience for the government. I know i am late to the party, reading this, however this book has aged well and i found it surprising relevant despite the decades passing.

Got a badge for finishing the story.
Revisado: 06-01-22
As seems to be popular there were a lot real world issues addressed in the book(s). The author did this quite well and told a beautiful story with out alienation, or overt criticism. I am not the in the target demographic but, a good story can transcend so much. This was a good story.

A chain, a portal, and darkness. That was all it took for Rob's life to go from the mundanity of college to being forced to survive in a hostile fantasy world full of horribly mutated creatures. Despite discovering civilization and making allies, his newfound home was sadly short-lived, leaving the survivors to pick up the pieces and make for greener pastures. Having won the respect of the locals via a heroic almost-sacrifice, Rob travels with them, recognizing the importance of having people around to watch your back.

Revisado: 05-19-22
Rob, the hit sponge, develops in to a profound character. Fighting the status effects, i will be vague if you have yet to listen to the story, is a great writing device that adds originality. This genera is great escapism, and Kamikaze has separated themselves with a well thought out story. Overall outstanding.

I know people like James and typically find them repugnant. However I can not help route for him. These books are so well written and for lack of a better term just fun. The narration is amazing and I can not imagine how they keep all the accents straight. Outstanding, one of the few books i pre order.
