First things first...I loved the performance by Justine Eyre! Her accent was immensely enjoyable. She switched between characters seamlessly.
The storyline was creative and beautifully executed.
The romance built gradually and ensured that each touch or glance was special and meaningful. I loved the swoony ending. On a steaminess level I would rate this a pleasant PG.
This book is definitely worthy of a repeat read!

What a castle!

I would love to live in a castle like this. One that likes me as much as Celia. The creative storyline and detailed imagery kept me entertained. I love the performance too.

Captivating, Courageous, Charming

I love a book that changes my opinion of it from the beginning line to the last page.
The performance was one of the best I've had the pleasure of listening to.
I'll confess that I initially thought this book might be too focused on the clothing and happenings in society and not Clara and her story...yet because of those very things we are given an informative and engaging tale. I truly loved this!
On a steaminess level I would rate this a pleasant PG overall. There was one instance that had me nervous regarding the outcome, but things turned out okay.

Vile villains, helpful healers, respected royals

Overall I enjoyed the storyline. The characters were creative and the plot plodded forward. At times Evie frustrated me with her attitude or actions. It wasn't until a third of the way through the book I remembered there was a connection to Ella Enchanted (the next book in the series, written 11 years prior to this one).
Honestly, I didn't care for the connection. I preferred to enjoy this book as a stand-alone novel instead. If I succeeded then my extreme dislike for Sir Peter could subside by the time I read Ella Enchanted again.

I listened to the audio book and must say the performance was outstanding! I plan to check out other books narrated by January LaVoy.

Captivating story, monotone voice performance

The story was suspenseful and kept me on the edge of my seat. The romance between Candice and Alex was believable, and their escapades intense. The kissing scenes were a bit on the steamy side for my tastes though.

The voice performance sounded extremely monotone. I am not sure if that was the objective by the author, but that was the impression I received.

Captivating strangers, and large families combine
