Interesting but could be better

I have read some of J Thorns work before, but not Joanna's. There were a couple times I lost track of what was happening, not sure if it was slow writing or the delivery. The story wasn't bad, but not what I expected. I did like the setting.

Once again Strand delivers

I loved Wolf Hunt 1. While several people say they like this one better, I'm not sure. Honestly, I can't get enough Jeff Strand and I loved the first one so much I was overjoyed that there was a second one. Great story - what else can I say?

Oh, wait, one more thing - LOU!!!!!!!! Damn you Jeff.

not as good as I had hoped

I've like Ibsen's stories before, but didn't care for this one. Hempel does a good job like normal, but the story wasn't there. It plodded and seemed to drag on with many spots that left me wondering how it was progressing. I didn't think they characters reactions were realistic most of the time considering what was happening to them.

I'll still try more of his books, but this one just didn't do it for me.

not too bad of a tale

This isn't the type of book I normally read but it wasn't too bad. If you like witch tales, this is a good one to get. The writing was fine, it just wasn't my type of book.

a dark tale from a great writer

This story is quite a bit darker than most of the stuff I've read from Strand. Not that it's worse for it, just be prepared. I still enjoyed it and couldn't put it down.
One of the things I like about his stories is the length seems perfect. There's enough to draw you in and you can really get the characters, but it's not drug out (like another horror writer I like)

Be careful if you listen to this with the kids though, it's quite a bit more vulgar and explicit than most of his other stuff.

Another great Father Gunter story

I've listened to the first 2 and this one is right on par. I like these stories and hope there are more. I do wish there was a bit of a shakeup since the stories seem to follow the same general flow and it seems like its time to change things a bit. That won't stop me from listening to the next one though.

a nice werewolf twist

I wasn't sure what this book would be about and it turns out it's a twist on the werewolf story. The way the antagonists are alluded to makes it seem like it's talking about gangs, which it is, just of the supernatural variety.

I really liked the writing. The word choice and sentences were masterfully done. Sounds weird when it's the story that matters, but it was so well done it actually stuck out to me and made some other books seem worse by comparison.

That said, the story seemed a bit thin and drug on at times. That said, it still would have made a great movie.

I would recommend this if you like supernatural werewolf type stories that also come across as an action Mack Bolan book.

wasn't my cup of tea

I really wanted to like this book as it was a dragon based story, but I couldn't I had a hard time figuring out what the story really was. There were some dragon fights and various people doing various things, but I couldn't tell why they did or why I really cared. My mind kept wandering and I lost track and had to listen to several parts again.

Part of what put me off was some of the voice characterizations. They didn't make me think of dragons and were very distracting.

Another fun strand book

If you haven't read any Jeff Strand, think of it as a lighthearted horror with some comedy. I love his stuff and Wolf Hunt is no exception. It's an ongoing story of a couple thugs that screw up transporting a werewolf and then keep trying to recapture and then kill him.

Nice twist on a werewolf tale. Enjoyed this one a lot.

great b movie horror fest

I love Jeff Strand, so it's difficult for me to not like one of his books. This is a great, fun read. Twist on the zombie story and great fun. If you are looking for something long and dull like a Nicholas Sparks novel - keep looking. If you're looking for something that's like drinking a cold chocolate milkshake on a hot day - this is for you.
