Such a well-written story, and the narrator did a good job keeping all the characters separate.

I have been, and always shall be, a devotee of Star Trek TOS. I have tried to like the various iterations of the series over the years, but none could capture the lightning in a bottle that was the magic of the original series' enduring legacy.

The chemistry between the actors, and their respective characters, is unmistakable. As is the enmity between same. All of that weaves a tapestry that we TOS lovers hold near and dear to our hearts.

Hearing this, read by Spock himself, was a magical trip down memory lane. Full of laughter, smiles, and I'll admit a few tears.

I will forever be grateful to the cast of TOS for making a lonely childhood one filled with their flights of fancy, and for a now-older child's continued giddy response as my nostalgic-laden television station choices re-play those same flights of fancy again and again. It never gets old, and I never get tired of them.

To Mr. Nimoy's family. He was beloved by many, albeit none more than by yourselves, so to borrow the cliche - live long and prosper.

While the story was engaging and Sir Stewart is an excellent storyteller, I simply could not reconcile this man’s incredible lack of understanding the depths to which his injury of his kids reach with the nobility with which he presents his memoir.

Even knowing how bad his own childhood was he was so ambitious his own children suffered and continue to resent him for it. And yet we’re to celebrate someone for getting paid to play pretend their whole life? I think not.

Sir Stewart should spend his remaining years mending the relationships that matter if he can.

When an audible version of a book, any book, makes me laugh so hard I can't breathe I know it's a winner.

This one did that so many times I lost track. And by 'one' I mean these three books as this is books 1-3 in the Space Team-iverse.

Not giving anything away here, but Cal really needs to understand danger much, much quicker because one such laugh-till-I-gasped-for-breath encounter with a fuzzy orange space squirrel pretty much sums up his entire outlook on this strange new world he finds himself in.

The naming conventions are another bit of brilliance as evidenced in book 2...I mean just look at the title.

I've already paid FULL price for book 4, so I think the author owes me. I'll take a never-ending supply of Cal, Misette, Mech, Loren, and Splurt as payment, thankyouverymuch.

.....YOU'RE crying!

Andy Weir, honey you never fail to surprise, touch, and impress me.

Ryland's ups and downs and giddiness and even the science-y stuff - which is WAY over my head - are perfect. Rocky is brilliant, snarky, and how I imagine any alien species' regular Joe (albeit a brilliant engineer) to be.

The premise is simple, and yet terrifying, and that makes it plausible. I did worry about the author drifting into preachy on climate change, but not to worry he balances that beam with no problem.

Ryland and Rocky's relationship is so natural, and yet so foreign, and so incredibly necessary. Again, it's as I imagine our first contact might go.

I don't want to give anything away, but as I realized how this book would end I swear someone started chopping onions right next to me.

Great job by Ray Porter, as always. He's so good at bringing everything/one to life for the listener. I could 'see' what he was talking about....that's an accomplishment not all can achieve.

Keep cranking out these amazing stories, Mr. Weir, and I'll keep plunking down my hard-earned coin to listen to them.

Let me start by saying I absolutely LOVE Breene's Magical Midlife series, and Nicole Poole's voice is smooth as silk.

That said, this is my second try with this series and I'm just...just not feelin' it babe.

So the heroine is (literally) fiery, the hero (?) is a hot vampire, there's some supernatural baddies and blah, blah, blah.

Been there, done that, nothing new.

Craig Alanson, you are evil and must be destroyed. You'd think I'd learn after you did this to us before, but nooooooooooo.....obviously there's to be a continuation of this story. I hope you don't think there's going to be any bathroom or food breaks from now until it's published, right? Sorry, but it's the price you pay.......

Can't say enough about RC Bray. There just aren't enough superlatives. He. Is. The. Best.

I'd love to see a series or a movie or a series of movies based on this. I see Chris Pratt as Joe Bishop and Rosario Dawson or Zoey Saldana as Margaret Adams, and of course, RC Bray as a shiny beer can. Trust. The. Awesomeness. Now, go make it happen!

Okay so shades of Han Solo and Princess Leia notwithstanding this was pretty good. RC Bray’s performance? Friggin’ AWESOME!

That said, sigh…”splick”? Really? Really? I literally cringed. Every. Single. Time.

The story? Yeah it was good, if formulaic and predictable, but honestly a complete unique concept is hard to come by in this genre so not expected. I came to this one via the Ruins of the Earth book, which was quite intriguing. Wish the others in that series were available on Audible, but alas….I digress

Lots of military, lots of bang-bang, but mostly warranted. All in all it’s enough to get my next credit as I continue…so long as RC Bray is your narrator that is. His outtakes had me in tears. Hey RC - how’s about you create a collection of your best outtakes as a stand alone, hmmm?

I say it all the time, so I'll say it again, RC Bray could read the telephone book and make it RIVETING. That said, his performance here is the best thing about this book.

Except...............and slight spoiler if you haven't followed the Expeditionary Force series with Skippy the Magnificent.

I could NOT get past the fact that the alien tech imbued with intelligence and a personality in this book sounds exactly like the aforementioned Skippy. It was distracting. However, if you haven't listened to the Expeditionary Force series you're going to wonder what I'm talking about. Trust me, you need to listen to all those books..think we're up to 11 now...and...trust the awesomeness. I suppose it's not possible Mr. Bray can keep the overlap from happening, and maybe it's okay with others listening to both series...maybe I'm just being picky.

The story? Oh yes, well it's the typical bad aliens coming to get the humans and a scrappy bunch are having none of it. Lots of militaria references, lots of action, and a fair amount of laughs - due mostly to the alien intelligence they call "Chuck". Does it stand out? No, but that's okay. It's not a heady tome full of deep message and existential questions. It's a slam bang, rock 'em sock 'em romp. And that's alright by me.

Somewhat interesting (utterly predictable) storylines are completely elevated by the Roxy/Black banter and made enjoyable by the amazing Bray’s performance.

Big con, for me, is the internal conflict Black seems to never resolve concerning his feelings for Roxy. Does he or doesn’t he? Make. Up. Your. Mind. It’s annoying.
