Ugly crying in the end
Revisado: 08-17-24
Very rarely does a book bring me to tears but this one did. These characters are flawed beautiful and perfect just like everyone of us. Not an HEA, a real life.

Historia
Lillie Silva knew life as an empty nester would be hard after her only child left for college, but when her husband abruptly dumps her for another woman just as her son leaves, her world comes crashing down. Besides the fact that this announcement is a complete surprise (to say the least), what shocks Lillie most is that she isn't...heartbroken. She's furious. Lillie has loved her life on Cape Cod, but as a mother, wife and nurse-midwife, she's used to caring for other people...not taking care of herself.

Great book (beware PA people, cringe-worth pronunciation!!)
Revisado: 07-21-22
I really enjoyed the book, the many characters of this sleepy island were interesting and believable.
My only problem was that the narrator was not familiar with Pennsylvania pronunciations - and it made me cringe - repeatedly. I felt really bad for all the students from BUCK-NELL (not “Bucknil”)!!!! But she did get Bryn Mawr right and that’s no easy feat.

I really enjoyed this story and would have enjoyed following the characters in much more detail. I also would have enjoyed learning how "master" and Julie take their relationship to the next level.
Well written if a bit too short :)

I really had a difficult time getting through the story with this particular narrator but wanted to see where the plot would lead. I did however, enjoy Andi's performance.

Historia
Seventy years ago, Joe Rubinstein walked out of a Nazi concentration camp. Until now, his story has been hidden from the world. Shortly before dawn on a frigid morning in Radom, Poland, 21-year-old Joe answered a knock at the door of the cottage he shared with his widowed mother and siblings. German soldiers forced him onto a crowded open-air truck. Wearing only an undershirt and shorts, Joe was left on the truck with no protection from the cold. By the next morning, several around him would be dead. From there, things got worse for young Joe, much worse.

I found the story of Dr. D'Amore's physical deterioration, yet spiritual growth very moving and inspiring. Being Catholic myself I too had traveled some of the same paths/challenges as Dr. D'Amore. I was so happy that this story was abled to be shared.

An Eclair Affair
Revisado: 03-01-16
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I enjoyed the listen but was a bit disappointed that the story didn't take on a more original spin. I feel that the characters are interesting and would have loved to see them in more detail but I did find that the storyline was too identical to the original "Affair". The fact is, I loved the original "An Affair to Remember"
Did Ryan Kennard Burke do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
I feel that Ryan Kennard gave a satisfactory performance with "Eclair" but female vs male character differentiating was muddled. I did not feel that each character voice was developed completely and the performance detracted from the story.
Could you see An Eclair to Remember being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Movie? Probably on Lifetime, but it would be just a poor copy of the original. I did like the characters but would love to see them in a different storyline.
Any additional comments?
