Historia
The Nightrunners are back in this gripping novel full of Lynn Flewelling’s trademark action, intrigue, and richly imagined characters. More than the dissolute noblemen they appear to be, Alec and Seregil are skillful spies, dedicated to serving queen and country. But when they stumble across evidence of a plot pitting Queen Phoria against Princess Klia, the two Nightrunners will find their loyalties torn as never before.

Revisado: 03-17-23
this book is such a breath of fresh air. seregil and alec spend the whole book in rhiminee and I am so happy about it. so much nightrunning, plenty of favorite characters, satisfying end. thank you for this. narrator is not the best at voice acting and not the best at changing his voice either, kinda like the last narrator. But like the last narrator, he had a nice voice and the audiobook is acceptable

great story, passionless narration
Revisado: 02-16-23
The narration is acceptable. It's not intolerable. But he's definitely not trying to be a voice actor. Seregil and Alec have the same voice and use the same intonations as if they are the same person. Some other characters, like Micum, actually do have some unique voices and pretty good accents though.
There are some lines of dialogue during tense situations that make me laugh because there is no attempt at acting. One more book to get through, then hopefully the next narrator tries harder.

I am unreasonably angry --vague spoilers
Revisado: 12-30-22
Review for Book 2: Being in a relationship with someone who outranks you might be complicated, right? Well here is the prime example- what fcking partner, romantic or otherwise, would run into a dangerous situation alone after hanging up on the other with MINIMAL communication and expect them to just LISTEN to their "orders"?? Really? Are we really blaming Sawyer for something that happened because he's a loyal half of one whole who received almost zero communication? Screw Locke. Screw that "See this is what happens when you don't follow my orders" bs. I blame him and I am still angry. I'm glad Sawyer told him his orders were stupid but I can't stand Locke thinking he was right. I liked this book until that. Now it's... good but rage inducing for no good reason. I can't believe I'm this mad about a gay novel.

Historia
Max Remus couldn't care less about finding his mate—unlike the rest of his fate-obsessed pack. He totally prefers hanging with his bestie, eating his dad's steak sandwiches, and drawing in his trusty sketchbook. But all that is about to change at the Blue Moon Festival—a summer camp where Elite Pack wolves go to find their mates. The festival is a rite of passage for every teen werewolf, and this year's festival will be one to howl home about. The alpha's son, Jasper Apollo, is attending for the first time.

the same thing happens over and over with no resolution. completely one sided relationship that goes nowhere. the dudes an a-hole the whole book, becomes a little nicer and then suddenly pulls the Vampire Martyr Cliche in the end. Awful. at least the narrator was good.

Main Character is too perfect
Revisado: 04-10-22
I liked the story, the characters, the plot, etc. on a surface level but everything falls a little bit flat before you can get immersed. The main character is liked by everyone except her governess who doesn't really affect anything important, and has had 3 parents who love and support her completely except for one weird outburst due to an excursion. She's level-headed and kind and has perfect manners and has a lot of raw talent and learns magic so quickly she basically does everything new correctly on her first try. She has endurance and determination and focus and confidence which is great but like I said, she's perfect. She has not even a single bit of jealousy or resentment over her mother remarrying and becoming a queen, or gaining a princess as a baby sister. She handles everything without any kind of true negativity. Even when she was "bullied" as a new squire the bullies were told off immediately and her problems were immediately solved. There's no character development because there's no reason for any. You can say she's overconfident and impulsive but nothing she has done like that has had any ill repercussions, except maybe a quick scare.
Her lack of jealousy and her level headedness could have been refreshing but it just became lumped in with every other perfect attribute. Not a bad story, just made me roll my eyes quite a few times. Still interested in the rest of the plot, though.

pointless secret keeping
Revisado: 05-23-21
I had a hard time believing Campy could be so confused about himself even though he had a loving, accepting mother, a job as a GAY porn star, and no traumatic events involving sexuality. It's honestly ridiculous. The one thing that makes me have to accept it was the concept of Bi Erasure. But it's still outlandish to me. And I really dont understand why he thought he had to hide his whole life from the guys as if he'd be in danger otherwise. Everyone did, and it seemed so pointless. You're close enough to fuck but not close enough to talk about your goals in life? wat

No point
Revisado: 05-12-21
This is supposed to be a kinky book but there is no kink in it except boys calling their partners "daddy" and liking being told what to do. There was almost no exploration into kinks, no good sex scenes that at least made for interesting content, just a ton of talking, talking, talking.
And the narrator, as always, over enunciates and makes everyone sound robotic except maybe Jordan and Slade. Now that I think about Slade, they touched on his background but didn't actually bring any part of it into the story. It's just narrated about. In fact, this author does that for every character. This was seriously hours of nothing but talking and teasing.
Also, what the heck was with William's voice? What was that? Is he 90?

Can Eli be Daddy to one of his partners and boy to the other? Everyone's finding their place in this new relationship, but Eli is still unsettled. He has more than he thought possible, but it's less than he wants. To truly have everything, he'll have to hand over complete control to Doug. It's what he wants, but he's not going down without a fight. Help Me, Sir is the fourth book in the Club 83 series. It is a continuation from Show Me, Daddy, where Doug and Eli teach Jordan what it's like to fall in love and let someone (or someone's) take care of him.

Didn't really add anything to the first book
Revisado: 05-12-21
They kind of felt like the same book except the issues were slightly different. Nothing fun or interesting really happened, it was mostly monologues or well-meaning friends changing their minds about their situations to get the relationship going in the right direction. Was kind of just waiting for it to be over.
The narrator isn't awful but he has the weirdest way of emphasizing words that makes it sound like he's never heard English spoken aloud casually before. And his over enunciation drives me insane. Every single 'T' was crystal clear and dragged me right out of the story. There is such a thing as speaking too perfectly.
And I'm not sure if this is the author or narrator but there were way too many places where a conjunction should have been used. These people sounded like robots half the time. It would have worked fine in like, a high fantasy genre book but not in a contemporary romance.

The main relationship didn't feel realistic to me
Revisado: 04-27-21
Ken and Jim's interactions were mostly by chance, hardly included any real conversations, and yet still progressed to "I love you" immediately after Jim is freed from his obligations. I did not see that kind of progression between them. Jim came to his rescue twice and they flirted a little and did some physical things but it didn't feel like they knew each other that well by the end. Maybe I zoned out during the whole book, lol
One thing I really love about these books so far is that the female characters haven't been villains. They've been real people, plenty of them lovable, and some of them even steal my sympathy from the main characters. These sweet, strong girls being dangled around gay guys by their overbearing parents don't deserve that, yet I love that they don't throw fits or anything cliche. Good characters all around in these books.

This is part of an on-going series by Amazon best-selling author, Mary Rundle, and catching up on previous titles is advised. Listeners of the past books will enjoy meeting old friends once more as the pack does what it does best - caring for one another and helping shifters everywhere. Enforcer Dylon Royd worked for the notorious Silver Point Pack until they accused him of disloyalty. Imprisoned and beaten to within an inch of his life, he's dumped at the side of a road and left for dead.

This is the most rare kind of wolf!!
Revisado: 04-17-21
Everyone is the most rare kind of wolf until the next book, then someone else is the rarest! wow, much rare, such special
I wouldn't necessarily mind but it's so much exposition, so much dialogue, good god the whole book is just people explaining everything that's going on constantly. oof it just makes me want to read a synopsis of what happens.
